Inconsistent text layout at different widths

What is with the topic list layouts having inconsistent/malfunctioning layouts? Look at these two: When the table is narrow, topics utilize three line: 2-lines-narrow.png When wider, for some reason the text occupies FOUR lines. This should never happen. There is a ton more space than the previous c...

Re: Electrolytes for Virgins

If you have an unquenchable thirst, and yet are pissing all the time, you probably need electrolytes. Your body is trying to get them through the drink, but just gets them flushed out. Keeping a good balance will help you not need to piss so often too. On another note, dogs will eat feces to get ele...

Re: EL wire and clothing lights

If you don't have a particular costume design that requires the look of EL wire, you might want to look into LED fairy lights for lighting or something else. EL wire, quite frankly, sucks. EL wire not very bright, and the colors not very unsaturated. Thicker stuff is brighter, but more expensive, an...

Re: Help powering 30-40 feet of LED strip on art bike

The LED strips should regulate whatever current they need. They just need to be hooked to a 12V power source to function.

Adding a switch (possibly sealed) between the battery and your lights might make it nicer to turn on and off too.

Re: ePlaya 2018 Updates

There seems to be some inconsistent wrapping in the forum topics listings, especially where the dates are shown. There is a lot of extra horizontal room in the column, and the site width is fixed; why is it allowed to wrap at all?

Can an explicit new line be added between the name of the last post author and the "View to the latest post" lines, as depicted below. Re: To Shade or Not to Shade?

Those 10x10 tents are only 10x10 at their base and taper upwards. They fit perfectly into a standard carport. Shade is more important than your tent. A tent is just a portable container for your loose stuff. Shade lets you sleep, cook, rest, and do anything at all while in camp during the day. If yo...

Re: Suggestions for Tent?

You can get away with a run-the-mill $100 tent as long as you stake it down properly. There are tents with metal poles that will hold up okay; I used one for a couple years . Sure, everything inside will be covered in dust when you come home to sleep, but at least it is still there inside the tent. ...

Re: Any camp to host this LED installation?

If the backing of those strips is solid, it'll really catch the wind and it'll start flapping and bending and all kinds of problems. You'll need to have it mounted somewhere where it is protected. That wooden rod is probably insufficient to keep your piece from getting wind blasted and thrown about....

Re: Fixing/replacing Bottom bracket on huffy Cranbrook bike?

My friend and I fixed a crank/bearings on my Cranbrook on playa with some bearing grease, a larger Crescent wrench, and some other wrenches. The casing was in tatters, but the bearing grease held the bearings in place while we made it tight enough to hold them in place. Worked great the rest of the ...

re: ePlaya 2018 Updates

I'm seeing a couple visual issues with the new update to the site: 1) An out-of-place gap of space above the section title links (e.g. "Rideshares & Resource Sharing"). They really ought to line up in the same manner as the topics do. 2) While there are high-quality CSS icons now, the images to the ...

Re: Individually Addressable Pixels - LED Rope

I think you can only set one color for the entire strip.

If you want to individually address each pixel you're much better off purchasing LED strips specifically meant for that. For example, you can get get some ws2812b-based LED strips, and a DMX controller that works for them.

IMHO, I think that many people who avail themselves of the Burner Express do plan all year, knowing fully that they are limited in what they can take. I'm not even saying people who take mass transit to the playa are bad people or fine citizens. While the event shouldn't discourage peo...

Re: Outside services for camps in 2018

I'd like to see mass transportation services, both ground and air, ended as well. These services serve only one purpose and that is to get more people into the event because of road limitations. That end-goal, however, I don't see as necessarily a good thing. By enabling any person to attend who can...

On a different note, I'm with Ratty: I don't really like stickers or pins or whatnot that have a camp name all that prominent. Usually what most people do is build their logo and media around their theme or whatever funny thing they're doing. Unless your camp is super memorable and important, I'm no...
