Re: The Playa Provides

Had to repair my bike last year on playa because my bearings got fucked by the dust. My friend and I got it working, but I didn't know if I would need to do some field repairs or tighten down something. So just in case, I took along a big Crescent wrench I had used to get the bolts off the bike, the...

Re: Sound system for art project

Though probably rare for installations, theft can and does happen, especially if the equipment is portable. Consider locking up and attaching your gear to immobile structures with cables to at least make it difficult for the gear to walk off. I usually keep just have the security cable follow the po...

I certainly wasn't sure if I was, but did it anyway.

Good experience though, and felt great!

Re: Solar El wire

Even though you're replying to a 4-year-old thread, a better idea is to not bother using power-hungry EL wire at all and to use something that will last all week on few batteries, like copper fairy lights. EL wire is really dim too, and for the price of it, you could just buy a bigger battery for yo...

Yeah, with nothing to offer, and requirements to boot, the only camp that will have you is a Plug and Play camp, and only just for the money at that.

Even with access to a shower in our camp area I've not bothered, or forgotten. As mentioned above, you're always covered in dust anyway, and it's dry so you don't feel nearly as shitty as you would if you were in a place with humidity. You're mostly interested in cleaning your neither regions, which...

Oddly enough, I remember going mid-day last year and it was a breeze getting through the line. Maybe it was because it was extremely hot and nobody thought they wanted to be standing in line for ice. Or maybe it's just more efficient these days. Go when it's most inconvenient for other people to go.

The best part during exodus is turning off at the fork onto that empty highway going north, at full posted speed-limit speed, and looking back in the rear-view mirror to see the endless line of cars crawling off into the horizon towards Reno. See ya folks!

My impact driver partially gave up the ghost and wouldn't "impact" much when the going got rough. The socket wrench definitely came in handy.

Still beat using rebar.

Re: VP Order Cancelled?! Rant

I don't know if ticketing can help you out, but maybe you can contact them about this. BMOrg really should get their shit together to prevent these kinds of SNAFUs. Maybe TicketFly's system is so inflexible that they can't restrict purchases of dependent items (e.g. allowing VP sales only if tickets...

Supposedly the .led files that those controllers use are encrypted and only generated by that LEDEdit software, which is apparently not very good. Re: 2018 Ticket Information Is Out!

I expect the profile registration helps to: 1) reduce the ability of automated systems or multiple windows/accounts from being able to increase the odds of getting a ticket; 2) provide demographic data; 3) weed out dumbasses who can't even be self-reliant enough to register a profile or for the sale...

Though w.r.t. insurance policy tickets, I'd more direct the blame at BOrg for allowing such tickets to be resold at their un-depreciated value. The BOrg won't even criticize the practice, and may even tacitly support it for more ticket sales.

Your wires will also be insulated using plastic. Overall th...

Re: Ratchet straps or used climbing rope?

With rope, you can use some nice running rigging with the rope , which will balance the load for you. Another nice thing is that if the rope you used is cheap enough (or you don't care about it), you can just cut it instead of pulling it out. If you use paracord, you can also use a Blake's Hitch and...

I generally have that same view of the LIT program as well. The marginal price difference should not be the financial difference between going and not going -- and if it is, you probably ought to not go and strain your finances. However, it may be such that receiving a LIT ticket just helps decide w...

If you opened a Ticketfly account in the past, login to it to check if it's still good.

Also call your bank up before your $1000 ticket transaction to make sure your card doesn't get denied.

Whatever the policies laid out in that page, you should not be applying for low-income tickets if you can afford main sale. The LIT is not meant to be some second chance to get a ticket, but the only chance.
