Re: soylent

Oh the money part was more versus other stuff like I what I brought for my shake. Even so, 12 bottles for $32 isn't that bad anyway. I hate cooking out there, so I'll often just go and buy some tasty premade sandwiches at a sandwich chain and have that for some "good" meals. Some cold pizza is good ...

Re: soylent

While I don't buy Soylent because I don't want to pay that much for it and do like eating (chewing) food sometimes, I bring a box of protein drinks and that makes things a lot easier. If I need to have some food in me and leave quickly, I'll just pound one, munch on some finger-food vegis or other s...

Put in your request like any other camp. You can list what you did in previous years even if your camp hasn't attended in the immediate past for some time. You'll also need to provide info on what you're planning on doing this year as well.

Re: Can I make a wearable, portable flamethrower?

You should probably contact the people at Burning Man (bottom) and see what they have to say. While you probably wouldn't be prohibited from attaching it to a costume or prop or something, you may be restricted in what you can do with it, when, and where, much like fire performance art.

Add underline style to in-post links?

The current style used for links (e.g. this is a link ) residing inside post bodies and signatures can make hyperlinks difficult to identify, even though they're a shade of blue. Could they be styled with an underline like standard links? The color used for the links also has poor contrast when on t...

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

No, the Superstore is the same store as the one on Amazon, and only sells 50pc cartons. I think the one you're looking for is the Fastener Stop . Note that I don't know whether these guys actually deliver on their lag screws (I would assume they do). Please report back if you use them. The 50pc cart...

You probably don't need the 1/2" lag screws, but any normal impact driver/wrench should be able to drive those in.

It'd be nice if new users received some sort of generic numbered nickname until they went through the motions of having it changed. It'd be easier to identify people will little stake in the board.

Other than having a weakpoint at the joint, how are you going to drill that into the playa with a piece of rebar sticking out the top? Being able to impact driver those into the playa is one of the biggest benefits of using lag bolts vs pounding rebar. If it requires a pipe wrench or something I mig...

We had one of those 30ft Rohn towers that was held in place in the middle with deep stakes and then had guylines around it. They're not that hard to transport or set up, and not too expensive. Tall, but not super tall.

Re: How to do bright hair color for the Playa!

Well according to this site on preventing hair color from fading, normally hair is slightly acidic, which keeps the cuticle structure compact and resisting dyes or other chemicals. It also keeps the hair healthy. When dyeing the hair, the hair is purposely made alkaline (pH raised above neutral) to ...

It seems to me like the Borg should have a year where they just have a blanket no transfers rule. If you buy a ticket you must go or lose the money you spent. Require ID That matches the name assigned to the ticket or no entry. Even if that were implemented, I think we'd still see a lot of people s...

The first year my bike, along with those of two of my friends, were stolen from the same spot because we forgot to lock the bikes up. It may be counter-intuitive, but flashes are best used for fill light during daytime photos, and left off during the night. But if they're sticking out like stakes they might not be deep enough in the ground. Plus they'd be a pain to drive in.
