re: ePlaya 2018 Updates

I'm seeing a couple visual issues with the new update to the site: 1) An out-of-place gap of space above the section title links (e.g. "Rideshares & Resource Sharing"). They really ought to line up in the same manner as the topics do. 2) While there are high-quality CSS icons now, the images to the ...

NeonBunny, You must be under some kind of illusion that the mods here on this forum, or anyone here for that matter, are customer service representatives for BRCStorage or Burning Man itself. I assure you, we are not. Also, "radical inclusion" doesn't mean having to hand-hold a "customer" through th...

Yeah, they don't even need to be toilet float valves. Those hydroponic float valves would work great, controlling a different hose.

Re: Cleaning Playa Gear

Though people tout using apple cider vinegar for every malady you should probably just use some cheapo white vinegar. Who knows what ratio you need to use because vinegar comes in different concentrations. Just experiment and use your nose to see if it still smells like vinegar, and your eyes to see...

Re: Playa hats

The first thing I added to my hat was a chin-strap. Also consider adding a rope/string to the chin-strap attached to your belt (or whatever is fixed to the front of your body. Other than preventing a runaway hat, which can occur even with a chin-strap, if you hang your hat on your back when not on y...

You could buy some misting nozzles, many of which are anti-drip and cleanable. Then pump filtered water through it to reduce the chance of clogging.

Re: Individually Addressable Pixels - LED Rope

I think you can only set one color for the entire strip.

If you want to individually address each pixel you're much better off purchasing LED strips specifically meant for that. For example, you can get get some ws2812b-based LED strips, and a DMX controller that works for them.

A nice metal 5-gallon gas can with a bendable spout and squeeze handle for controlled pouring. No el cheapo Costco plastic gas cans with those annoying twist/push release valves.

Thoughts, please. In the name of tomfoolery, combined with punishment for low down dirty scoundrels out stealing bikes, I've been wanting to do something like this for years. One lag bolt with some parachord tied to the rear of a bait bike. Would this make me an asshole or a participant? Stolen Bik...

Were flag-down pump services ever really a "sanctioned" service, or more some greasing of palms that gradually became commonplace and ignored?

Re: Outside services for camps in 2018

IMHO, I think that many people who avail themselves of the Burner Express do plan all year, knowing fully that they are limited in what they can take. While I see the overall point and certainly agree with not providing people a bike-in-a-box, excluding those who devote themselves to the type of pl...

Re: Outside services for camps in 2018

I'm not even saying people who take mass transit to the playa are bad people or fine citizens. It's just that mass transportation enables and encourages people to attend an event that shouldn't be easy to access and should favor those in close locality to it. While the event shouldn't discourage peo...

Re: Outside services for camps in 2018

So be it. Even with those limitations there will be no shortage of people who will fly in nearby and drive themselves to the event. We had people from Austria do that, and met a solo kid on a motorcycle from Australia. People had been doing that for years. People will catch rides with other people i...

Re: Outside services for camps in 2018

I'd like to see mass transportation services, both ground and air, ended as well. These services serve only one purpose and that is to get more people into the event because of road limitations. That end-goal, however, I don't see as necessarily a good thing. By enabling any person to attend who can...

Re: Camp visual identity

On a different note, I'm with Ratty: I don't really like stickers or pins or whatnot that have a camp name all that prominent. Usually what most people do is build their logo and media around their theme or whatever funny thing they're doing. Unless your camp is super memorable and important, I'm no...

Re: Re-bar or Lag Screws for a Monkee Hut ?

Maybe? Lag screws are usually drilled flush with the ground, and they're often shorter than the rebar used for monkey huts. They very well might still bend depending on the length and forces. Maybe if you got some 1/2"-diameter lag screws they won't bend much. My rebar never bent, except when I was ...

I have one I took out of an old camper and use it at my Hof. works great. just set it on a table in the shade, with a 5 gallon propane tank and regulator attached, and it'll be good for well over a week. A tank usually lasts me close to 3 weeks. good call BBadger! They use like 1.5lb of propane per...

Re: Re-bar or Lag Screws for a Monkee Hut ?

It's not really bad that it bends. The fact that the rebar bent despite the PVC bending means it must've just been really windy. The whole structure of a monkeyhut is supposed to be flexible and bendy anyway, and as long as the PVC doesn't come off the rebar you should be fine. I've even put cut pie...

You should probably consult the manual or specifications of the charge controller you plan on purchasing.
