Note that your driver and anyone else in the car would also need a WAP to be able to enter in early with you.

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

Why get those specialized chunks of metal for more than the cost of the lag screws themselves? I bought a box of run-the-mill chain from a department store for like $10 for about 30ft of chain link or something. Then bought a generic bolt cutter at the same store for about $25. That's $35 (maybe les...

I always get the Harpster heavy duty 6oz silvered tarps from Amazon. They're great quality and light blocking.

I like their FUEL M18 line since it uses brushless motors. Also they seem much less expensive on Amazon than other places. Maybe they're pieced out kits or something.

Re: In Tent Fans

I don't know what to tell you man. Why don't you just test it out and see if it works? There are a lot of shade structure designs people have come up with, many have instructions or list the parts. At some point you're just going to have to sit down, choose one or two, and build them to see if they ...

The vibrations might be amplified through the body of the trailer unless it also has some decent mass. Honda 2ks aren't really that loud anyway; sound may not be a problem anyway.

Re: Where to set up camp? Solo virgin Burner

Please consult the online guide . Don't camp inside blue-flag marked areas; they're reserved. Nearly everywhere will have people camping near you, but the closer you are to the playa (i.e. the earlier in the alphabet the street you're on), the more populated the city will be, but also more occupied....

Re: 2018 Black Rock City Plan - Campless - No Space

Hey Zach, I think this year is different. I was kind of confused by the city plan map for this year because it had a very light blue halo all over the city, rather than the blue bubbles surrounding major roads and such. It turns out they're not hard-zoning areas for placed camps in the same manner a...

You can get the iBurn app too, that'll help you know what events are when and if they're nearby. You'll probably miss most of them, and it's a pain to find events or what you want using that or any app. Good luck with it, Everyone seems to name their event or camp or whatever as a variant of "burn" ...

I'd be more okay if they just got rid of the officially sanctioned mass transit like BxB, chartered flights (private or public), and Green Turtle. Then it would simply people to have to coordinate their own ride-shares, connections, or drive in. The mere existence of these official mass transit syst...

Re: Yet another post about PVC pipe

I hope you're not planning on just showing up with a bunch of parts that you've never actually assembled together before. Ideally, you'd get the parts immediately set up your shade structure at least once so you know that you at least have all the parts, have time to buy any parts you forgot and ask...

Re: Storage container as art, placed in deep playa?

I think there's a terminology problem here. You are reading "placed" as "I am going to put it there"? I am reading it as "ARTery assigned it a location ('Placement')". When I spoke to ARTery about on-site art registration a few years ago, they told me I didn't need to bother if I didn't want to be ...

I don't know if an HOV lane really would help much. With a pulsed system you might allow the HOV lane folks out first during the pulse, but you're still going to allow the remaining mass of cars in that pulse to also leave. So you're dealing with essentially the same pulse worth of cars each time, j...

You could have one of those expensive Dyson "air multiplier" fans and it would not help you without some sort of shade/airflow.

You could make an evap cooler, but I would rather have the shade than an evap cooler.

Thanks for the email address. That was missing from their web pages, probably intentionally. Re: Preventing Bike Theft / Finding 'Lost' Bike Ideas

Bike locks are so cheap too. They're like $10 at any store. I've even purchased extra ones, and I use one to lock my seat to my bike and have as an emergency in case my primary lock falls off. I often find lost bike locks on the ground at BM, so I end up coming home with more locks than I enter in w...

Re: Yet another post about PVC pipe

PVC works for Monkey Huts (MH) because that structure is designed to bend and flex, and it also pushes down when exposed to strong winds. If you're making a MH or something based on it, by all means use PVC. If you're making something more rigid or more apt to break apart and fly away, PVC is not a ...

The Saltine box came to mind too when you mentioned containers on-playa. Maybe the folk at brcstorage@burningman.org could help you out. They might have stipulations on how you can (not) decorate it or other stuff like that and need written authorization or something from the Artery, assuming they'r...

They might just have come to the realization that D-lot-punishing people arriving early doesn't actually improve the gate situation, and may in fact just create more work, require too much space, or even create a safety hazard. Also, in the end, those D-lot folk are going to be appended to the same ...

It was also really, really, dusty with little wind to blow it away. So I believe a lot of the grease just got sucked up by the thick layer of dust that the bikes were riding through all the time. I'm not exactly sure about that Mobil grease 28, but from the description I read of it, it sounds like i...

You should probably just stock some bearing grease and bearings for most of the cases. They're a lot less expensive and probably go further.
