Re: Can I make a wearable, portable flamethrower?
YMMV, but back in 2006 and 2007, the Artery did not have a category for Fire Art that was mobile but not on a vehicle. I know because both years I brought a flame effects art that never got inspected and badged. Both years I was told that no one was going to come inspect because it was not fixed art...

You also helped form the Burning Band, and the Little Black Dress parade....

what Chowski said (and a nod to the Captain) BurningMan is a Doacracy - you want it, you make it happen. Like learning to swim, the best way is to swim. You can go under the radar your first few years (especially if your members will arrive together). Find some open ground (outside the reserved them...

Re: Fuel storage in truck bed?
the rules appear to preclude anyone from having any amount of liquid fuel, unless their camp size is at least 200' wide by 100'+ deep....since the fuel depot MUST be a minimum of 100' from any neighboring camp (cannot be next to road, so probably minimum camp size of 200' x 110' ) A corner camp coul...

Re: Was there a waiting room problem?
taken to an extreme, each camp now gets an 18-wheeler with flatbed trailer...first it hauls in the camp infrastructure, then it hauls in the camp's vehicles (2-3 at a time) to the camp parking lot. probably get by with 1:10 passes this way (2000 or so for the theme camp's 18-wheelers, and 18,000 for...

Re: Burners who don't go to Burning Man?
one can be part of the "Burningman community" without having attended, and in this sense call yourself a "Burner"....but in reality if you have never been, you have no reference (and thus effectively no credibility). Anyone can call themselves a Burner (like Kennedy was a Berliner...) - not everyone...

satellite photos can be instructive... several years back we had two check-points (each with a gate that could be swung open)...as part of performance art (complete with written passes and "armed guards") blocking A street completely. It could all be very quickly removed (like when DPW came by, or a...

Re: Using your car part of your shade structure
if you have cargo racks on top (for bikes etc) these make excellent attachment points for plastic tubing to make a shade structure. Be careful where any tarp touches the vehicle - it can wear away the paint rather quickly. Have a spare key hidden somewhere. The vehicle should be in shade (otherwise ...

figure out what type of battery the Captain uses, then get one of those....during the week, as your battery runs down, just swap it out with one of the Captain's (who surely will be keeping them all topped off and all...)
