Heya! Welcome to the forums, I'm a birgin too and am loving checking out all these introductions of people who are in a similar boat. Personally my "must" is to be open minded and be willing to go with the flow of things. I expect that nothing can be expected, and I believe this will make my experie...

Absolutely! As it gets closer to the event I'll be looking to do all these things. Right now I'm easing in slowly, every day I get a new idea from a member on these forums that I'll be bringing with me to the event :)

Ahaha! Naw it's alright, I let the sports teams dish it out on the field. I find that getting into arguments over sports is about as engaging as slamming my face against a brick wall and expecting some kind of positive response. I've never been in NY city, but I plan to take a trip to Harlem this su...

Yeah I just wish the MBTA was reliable. 3 weeks of snow (you'd think they'd be prepared) and every schedule gets changed/late/canceled. Not conducive to my paycheck.

Hahaha, see from where I am the "Yankees" are the evil empire of sports teams. We're more apt to get into fights with anyone considered a "Yankee fan" lol. But it will be nice to get away from the anal and impersonal feeling of this area and meet people who are more sociable.

Eastern actually, bout 40 minutes north of Boston :) I loved American Gladiators as a kid and as a lover of sky diving and similar adrenaline inducing activities this kind of thing is in my ballpark. If I can I'll have a friend video tape it/take pictures, but I will without a doubt let you know how...

Oh so it's like a legitimate brawl? Or is it more like, whoever falls down first... gives up first, or ...bleeds first haha. All of my guy friends have forever been larger than me so I consider myself a professional scrapper. I don't mind a little bit of pain

Aye that's the one! I saw pictures of it but for the life of me couldn't find the real name of it and the Guild that did it, huge props! I'm only 5'7" 140 so I'd love to give it a try haha

Hahaha, the human trap is classic. Seriously cool and well done, as my first year in 2011 I sincerely hope I can find it and have some fun.

Also that death-drome-gladiator-thing looks AWESOME, hopefully I'll be able to see these things before the undercurrent of the event sweeps me into the unknown.

That's a smart settup, I'ma look into portable compatible setups that are relatively cheap. I'm so glad I found out about BM so far in advance, the planning is a lot of fun :D

Haha that's fantastic! Yeah, I've always been a little bit of a pyro. Drinking doesn't help, and daring me to light my friend's hair on fire wasn't a smart idea either...

Smelt terrible.

Haha thanks Savannah, yeah I spent the entire day reading the site at work instead of actually doing work. Ignorance often brings flaming, so I'll continue to check out the Tips and Tricks. Haha, lucky!
I've never taken a road trip in my life and although I've traveled to the far ends of the country I've never seen the middle of it. Driving it will be a rite of passage in of itself and a major part of the trip, I'm pumped!

Thank you all for the kind welcome! I'm about an hours north near the Newburyport area. And although I'd be tempted to take a flight out there, you're right, doing the drive is going to be a huge part of the rite of passage. I've traveled to the polar ends of the country but have never seen the midd...

New to BM - 2011

Hey all! My name is Justin Towne, I'm a newcomer to the BM phenomenon. In all honesty I didn't know it even existed until 20 hours ago fate found me bumping into an old friend I haven't seen for 5 years. As we were catching up he all of a sudden invited me to this thing called Burning Man, and I was...

Virgin noob from MA! :)))

Hey everyone! Super pumped to finally be on this burn ride, I'll be fairly honest, I just learned about BM about 20 hours ago but I'm inexorably hooked. I've been feeling a little purposeless recently, whether it's this constant dark weather or the repetitive nature of going to work, classes, intern...
