Re: Radiant Barrier Foil to Tarp Adhesion!

You are using the green DAP contact cement? If you are using a poly tarp and an aluminum foil barrier, applying to both side and allowing it to dry sufficiently (depending on humidity and temperature) and then allow it to cure over 24 hours Yep, that's what I'm using (though I'm using recycled bill...

Re: Radiant Barrier Foil to Tarp Adhesion!

I am experimenting with the DAP contact cement recommended upthread by workinonit. As far as I can tell, this stuff is about as sticky on radiant barrier as scotch tape. Unless I'm doing something wrong (always a possibility), it's completely useless. You are using the green DAP contact cement? If ...

Re: The Tunnel of Questionable Enlightenment!

CFM, Mr. Five, and I rode out to the ToQE on Saturday night before opening. I walked up to a gentleman who was at work soldering and asked him if he was on eplaya. He said yes, his name was Workinonit! I asked him if he'd ever heard of Foxfur. He screwed up his face, thought about it, and said he'd...

Re: So? What art projects are you waiting for with baited br

It was just pretty. That's it. Pretty is a dime a dozen out there, and it wasn't amazingly pretty, just... "oh, that's nice. Meh" pretty. The interactive features were so complex as to be almost useless, it was like monkeys randomly hitting typewriter keys hoping to come up with something...

Re: The Tunnel of Questionable Enlightenment!

Its been quite an emotional roller coaster the last 3 days! I have spent every waking and likely non-waking hour working on the project to work out the kinks. I had yesterday afternoon resigned myself to do something like 38 arches because I could not get anything to work very reliably beyond that p...

Re: The Tunnel of Questionable Enlightenment!

I managed to get up to 40 arches working but the whole system is locking up very frequently at that distance. But this is why we did it 2 weeks before we have to leave. You do full set up to find the problems here and not on the playa. Several ideas have been thrown around and we ARE going to fix i...

Is it allowable to trade art early entry passes

Turns out one of my teammates has a ride to the playa but will be there Thursday. Does anyone know if its "legal" with Burning Man/Artery/Gate/etc to trade Art EA passes? I know a member of another team that won't be arriving till Friday but has a Thursday pass. It would work out perfectly...

Re: Glowies, Blinkies, UVies & Other Illuminations

3.2Watts?! That's quite a bit compared to what you're get from an LED. Try checking out these Light Pipes with white cores. That way you can shine and LED down the end of it and achieve a light much like an EL wire. ooh... that stuff looks cool... so expensive though!!! I guarantee you won't get th...

Re: Glowies, Blinkies, UVies & Other Illuminations

Any tips? Ditch the EL Wire is my advice. I can't stand that stuff... Its so finnicky...it looks cool and all but if its not on something that won't be subject to movement, it wears down and does not work (ie: requires a lot of maintenance and has a short life span). The thicker stuff will definite...

We requested 5-530 between esplanade and the Man. Have not had any confirmation as of yet but will likely get that placement.

I think it will be hard to miss though... Just look for the 10,000 LED Question mark ;P

1 quick question I have for you. Each LED has a flat side, when looking down at it, so that you can't see the wires below it. Is the wire on the flat side positive or negative? It seems like when I wired it up it was the positive side. Short wire or flat wire is negative. http://tinyurl.com/3va7sj3
