Re: Do you have a spare bike or know where I can get one in

One thing with Walmart bikes they don't generally come assembled, so just be prepared to spend some time putting one together if you go that way. We just got our bikes from the Reno bike project http://www.renobikeproject.com/index.php/stuff-we-do/burning-man-bikes/ and they are awesome. ...

Re: Monkey Love Hut PVC...to cut or not to cut?

Yeah I will be doing that today. Sadly I already got the pipes cut down to 5' so won't be able to return them. But they should still work for the spine/connectors!

Re: Monkey Love Hut PVC...to cut or not to cut?

Argh. So I just got back from the hardware store where I brought (& cut to size) some 1" PVC pipes to fit with the 3/4" ones we already had lying around. We figured we would downsize 1/4" over all as we already had a lot of 3/4" pipe and we're using shadecloth not tarp, plus ...

Re: Any other burners with hyperpigmentation?

Good to hear I'm not the only one obsessing about covering up from the sun! I don't have melsama but grew up in the harsh NZ sun and have heaps of tiny sun spots all over me. The more I'm out in the sun, the worse they get  If you don't want to buy UV clothing then SunGaurd (https://sunguardsu...

Re: Glowies, Blinkies, UVies & Other Illuminations

That face paint looks awesome! Thanks for all your feedback. After spending a few days thinking on it I've decided there nothing like actually being 'lit up' so have purchased 15ft pre wired EL-wire off ebay. I'm going to sew reflective fabric/vinyl (the type you see on construction vests) onto a ja...

Re: Glowies, Blinkies, UVies & Other Illuminations

Thanks for the reply. I am also considering reflective tape (e.g. http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2732934/) which I know will look great as long as there are bright light sources around... do you think having enough external light sources to make reflective tape 'pop' is something that I can expect out...

Re: Glowies, Blinkies, UVies & Other Illuminations

I'm a first timer and am (attempting) to make some Tron-esque costumes... I am keen to try using industrial strength glow paint (http://glowinc.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=11) instead of El-wire. I would love to use El-strips but they are bit expensive and I have no experience with electrics......

Thanks for the responses. Definitely thinking shade cloth of some type is going to work for us as we aren't concerned about limiting air flow. Maybe 1 x tarp running along the spine at the top, then shade cloth for the walls. I managed to obtain 6 x ¾" bits of schedule 40 pvc for free, plus som...

Shade cloth?

We're thinking about building a Monkey Hut for this years (our first burn). It's only purpose will be as a communal chill out shade area. No tents / sleeping underneath it. Has anyone used shade cloth instead of a tarp? Does the extra ventilation affect how heavily the cover needs to be staked down?...
