Come and Get Steel Skeleton for Shade / Art
I have run out of room and find that the steel skeleton of "Devoted" - an art install that was on play in 2017. The build featured a central load bearing mast that was 25 feet tall in total. The mast features a tilt-up base and a spider at 9'. It would make a great center mast for a shade structure,...

Inexpensive Heavy Duty Sewing Machine
For those of you trying to sew multiple layers of nylon or connecting webbing to tents, I have found a very good alternative to the trusty SpeedySticher hand sewing awl... The machine is called a "Chinese Cobbler Leather Patching Machine" The machine is made in China, reminiscent of 1980 Chinese imp...

Shelf stable milk is a buck a quart at Dollar Tree
UHT Pasteurized milk doesn't require refrigeration till it is opened. It is sold widely around the world, and has the advantage that it does not require a cold chain.
Most online stores carry it for more than $3 / quart.
It is $1/quart at Dollar Tree.

Walls made of Shade Cloth?
I am considering using conventional shade cloth (5.8 oz/sq yd, uv blocking, typically used as roof for shade) as a wall for an EMT shade structure. Of course, the walls need to do two jobs: Block the direct sun (for shade in the morning and evening) and in high winds, afford some wind protection and...

Do you have any experience camping? Will you be renting a car? Will you be driving like you are still in India? Get the survival guide and read it, then make a shopping list of the items that you cannot bring with you from India and that you will need to get in the US. You are going to need to have ...

Re: How can I wire buttons to cameras for art installation?
I had a project that required I mount three digital cameras with overlapping views to generate an offline panoramic image. The cameras were mounted on top of a vehicle, and every tenth of a mile a picture was taken of the Mount Lemmon highway. It was the first year of the Mount Lemmon Marathon and I...

Re: "Letters from your Past" does this work?
Funny, we are doing something similar, but instead of Letters from the Past, we think of it as Letters to the Future! We are taking a different approach, creating an art installation called "Devoted" where a participant can send an email to their future selves, after interacting with other burners....

Hi Eddaytona! Thank you for the kind words. Yes, the burp at shutdown is a tradeoff - if it doesn't do the forced shutdown thing (that generates the error message) I cannot be CERTAIN that the GPS receiver is turned off. On the playa, it is really important to conserve battery life, since for so man...

HI All, Sometime in the past, I have seen a panorama that shows the mountains that surround Black Rock City, and gives their names and the general direction (ie, north, south) that they lie with respect to the man. I cannot find it, and would like to work up an art piece that incorporates the skylin...

As they are all precooked you can eat them right out of the can. Don't forget a GOOD can opener.

I predict MOOP of epic proportions. While all that grass shit may break down where there is humidity and bugs, it is going to blow everywhere and stay forever. Like this theme- it blows and won't go away.
