Re: Cot vs. Blow-Up Mattress

A cot is the way too go IMHO. It makes it much easier to get dressed with a cot to sit on. I put a thermarest pad on mine and it's super comfortable.

Re: the jitters of a first time burner

........the costs seem staggering. maybe i'm wrong? Nope, you're not wrong. It's expensive. You can minimize it some, but it's gonna drain your bank account. .......then i'm thinking the only thing in terms of food for me as a solo burner will be a ton of granola bars and some dry fruit. cooking is...

If I caught someone stealing my bike, I would have to resort to violence. However, I never leave my bike unlocked, anywhere, even in camp so I haven't had any problems over the years.

The first thing to do is read the survival guide. It has most everything you need to know in it.

I've been using a pair of Coleman Xtreme 5 day coolers for several years now and they seem to work well. The Yeti's perform better but they are really expensive.

Re: 2018 One item a day for BM list

Hotel rooms booked for ingress and egress. Was looking at cheap hotels in Fernley but the cheapest one was twice as much as Circus Circus in Reno. I used to drive straight home after the burn but last year, I got a room in Reno and it was awesome being able to have a short drive to Reno and a LONG H...

Re: Anyone ever have any issues with playa dust wrecking your air-con?

I've taken my truck out there 5 times and never had any problems with the AC. It does smell like Playa dust when I turn it on but I kinda like that. Brings back good memories.

What keeps going out on your AC?

Re: dgs ticketing minimum purchase question

You should buy 2 tickets and 1 VP with your DGS allocation. Everyone that got a DGS allocation should do the same.

You might want to see if someone in your camp can send the money to cover the second ticket to your friend with the issue.

Re: Is theft common?

While some thefts do happen, I'm not sure it's any worse than any other city. Most thefts are opportunistic so if you keep valuables out of sight and or locked up, you should be fine. Bikes are probably the number one thing that gets misplaced or stolen and I'm betting generators and cell phones are...

Re: Re-bar or Lag Screws for a Monkee Hut ?

I've seen some threads about people using lags for monkey huts but I couldn't see how that would work so I figured I misread it. You want at least 1.5 feet below ground for stability and 1.5 feet above ground for the PVC to slide over so even an 18 inch lag wouldn't even be close enough to work. You...

The main sale will be a lot like ComicCon tickets. They'll sell out very quickly. If you don't score tix in the main sale, there are other ways to get them. Tickets will come available the closer we get to the event you just gotta watch for them. Just like ComicCon, there will be scalpers and scamme...

Yes, yes I am. While it's not an officially sanctioned BM event, it is very burner like. I am actually taking my wife, who has never camped before or been to any kind of event like this. I want her first experience to go well so maybe I can get her to go to BM with me at some point in the future. TP...

I bring a mix of stuff, some MRE's, some canned stuff, and some fresh stuff. When I get hungry, I just dig through my food bin or cooler for something that looks good at the time. Was out in deep Playa late one night and ran across a small dive bar that had a few tables and full bottle service. The bartender was in a tux and the waitresses were equally dressed very classy. We had a group of 4 and waited to be seated. When it was our turn, the hostess split us up to 4 separate...

We've had rec here in California for just about a month and it's still too early to tell if there are any problems. Was kind of weird to just walk into a store and buy weed off the shelf from a menu like at McDonalds. The prices are a little higher than my regular "guy" but the quality is ...

Re: Totally New, Curious About Camps

You do not actually "have" to join a camp either. You can just show up, find a spot, and set up your stuff. You'll have neighbors that you can get to know and you wont have any camp responsibilities to worry about. Going solo your first time is probably the best way to do it IMHO. There is...
