Re: Directed sale?
From reading the ticketing page, it seems that every invite is valid to purchase 2 tickets, but I am not sure. Does anyone know if this is correct? ie: If I am sent an invite for 4 additional people, the total number of DGS tickets I can purchase would be 10 (myself + the 4 invites x 2).

Re: Virgin in need of evap advice
We use the combo of: Low water use for dishes and cooking. A pump solar shower that is low use (I love this: http://www.duckworksbbs.com/gear/shower/) Small amounts of Greywater is either collected, strained through a nylon, treated with a bit of bleach, then sprinkled (not dumped) on the road durin...

Re: Extending Electric Mutant Range Using On-Board Generator
I have an old 36v mutant vehicle that runs out of juice all the time no matter how often I upgrade its T-105 batteries, so I want to extend its range on playa. I would like to run a small quiet Honda generator to power the vehicle's charger and charge the batteries while the vehicle runs off of the...

Re: Playa Conditions for 2015
Trip Report.....Memorial Day There was standing water on much of playa. Three mile entrance was underwater when we came through on Friday. As of today, the north south roads (tracks/ruts) on either edge of the playa were full of water and there was ponding (though much less than Friday) in many loc...

Re: Solar showers
I've used the Duckworks set up for the last two years and it is awesome. It kept the water hotter after sundown than my old solar shower, was easier to tote around, and the pressure worked way better. Also didn't have to hang it above my head. I also use it to rinse dishes when we take it regular ca...

Re: Drones as art
We've been talking about doing some pieces like this. At a party, a guy had made a nice airship/flying pirate ship on a drone. At Burning Man we followed one that had long LED tails and the operator was good at puppeting it so it looked like one of the hunters from the Matrix.

Re: Placement required for early entry volunteers
On the flip side, if you're volunteering so you can grab prime space before the gates open, consider yourself deterred (and yes, the space outside Esplanade/A is most definitely prime space). If location isn't really important, then G or beyond shouldn't matter. I wouldn't base volunteering on this...

Re: Placement required for early entry volunteers
I agree, I don't need to camp on the Esplanade or even A, I would usually camp on E street. There is no department camp for DMV, and I'm sure a number of people will be stuck in the same situation with other volunteer shifts in other departments. Camping beyond G because you are showing up early to ...

Re: Placement required for early entry volunteers
Does anyone know how this works for people who get early entry for volunteering on their own, but not part of a volunteer camp? In the past, I have gotten early entry to work at DMV, but I camp in my own camp. In past years I would set up camp not in a reserved theme camp area and not on A (also res...

Re: Wearable LEDs: Flora (made to wear) versus not made to w
That Flora looks fun, and the fact that you can add sensors to it adds to its fun and experimental factor. You can always add a strip of fabric on the inside of your pants over the electronics (sandwiching them in) to protect your skin. You can even use something like stitch witchery if you don't wa...

Re: BloodBath and Beyond needs your help!
Yes because they have money to do it or charge camp dues in the hundreds or do fundraisers with in the camp. We have none of these. So we are asking the public to help. Why don't you ask the rest of the camp to pool their resources to pay for the booze, etc? That is how most camps pay for their "gi...

We just got this. No power needed. Of course you already have the bags. Then dump your solar bags warm wat...

What might help take it from - ho-hum to "wow" would be to think beyond just covering the bottom. Make it have a thematic whimsical element to it. Re: "MaxCold" coolers - 5 days of ice?
Yes.. AVOID the Coleman model and go for Igloo all the way. Coleman handle design sucks and they will break off with your first use. The Igloos are all around a better cooler and comparable in price. We've used both and feel strongly about this :) Huh, I've had the opposite experience. We've had bo...

Re: purchasing used RV
Everyone has really good advice, especially Captain Goddammit. I second the trailer over RV idea, as almost everything on it is fixable (except the fridge after a point). And yes, look for warping and sponginess. We bought a more recent toyhauler, and the lesson we learned there was the water intrus...

I am very very fair (think snow white) and had a child a couple of years ago; so I am well versed in the sunscreen hunt.
