Re: What did you do to be an Asshat in 2012?

My wife puked at the base of the lamp post right outside of Thunderdome after fighting in the dome the night of the burn. In her defense she was sober but suffering from smoke inhalation and drinking too much water at once to stop the coughing. Still. I felt like crap knowing she was MOOPing that n...

Re: Alright, let's hear the best and worst from 2012

BEST - Post set-up, impromptu Esplanade dance party Sunday night, greeting people driving on the esplanade by making them get out and dance with us, then loving their shocked response when they were told we were Thunderdome. - - Male unrehearsed, brilliant dance duet by two camp members during said ...

Flute?

Opera on the playa would be wonderful, I was looking for one last year. Another suggestion for an opera that would fit the playa would be Mozart's The Magic Flute, La Boheme fits well too. I REALLY hope someone manifests this. Many thanks to you Phreddiva for making one night on the playa so memora...

The gal that sings the opera before Thunderdome does its thing - was incredible. I hear she is a professional and it shows. Diva Marisa http://www.marisalenhardt.com/ She's an amazing singer! And a very nice person to boot! :) Badger ;) Thank you. Totally overwhelmed by all of this. Thank you.

Diva Marisa's performance was awesome. Such passion and a great voice. Opera is hard enough to sing in a proper environment. To sing on playa in with the dust and still sound beautiful I find impressive. Kudos to Marisa /blush/blush/blush *THANK YOU* Keeping my voice healthy on the playa is a feat....

Define "obvious?" I would say by the way they looked and by the way they acted, it was obvious they were just boys. And I realize it's Burningman and the artist is not responsible for every underage burner. Being a high-profile theme camp on the esplanade you must agree that you bare some responsib...

OK, so only took me a month to learn about e-playa and notice this message...! I'm glad you were entertained by the whole thing...was the rest of the crowd amused or pissed? I couldn't tell... I thought I was being so polite by waiting until an obvious lull in the action, and had hoped my little fl...

I just love the people who think that because they spent the money for a ticket, it gives them carte blanc to do whatever they want at any theme camp they choose. Point of fact: There is not one single camp out there that could accomodate 30,000 people wanting to visit it. If slipping the guy at th...

This sounds about right for how they run their camp concidering how some of their members are to other camps. I ran a large theme camp last year (Vortex casino) which stayed packed all night "with lines". No problem with the lines though. We had a back room with the computers in it for our other at...

One more thing .. I think TD is truly a gift. If they ask you in to play, I would bet they would expect nothing in return. However if you walk up there demanding your gift, they have every right to demand theirs ... you call that barter. Whatever. Maybe its semantics but how is asking demanding? Yo...

Well Bob - I am not sure how to respond to you accusation of snarkieness of my conclusions since snarkieness is well not a real word. I presented the facts as they happened to me. Bartering for play time led to these two underage shits stealing booze so that they could participate. Either let them ...

(as a side note of minimal imortance, a group of us, including most of Happy Camp, drove up to DG, got out of the car, invaded yelling "Happay!" and proceeded to HUG THEM, KISS THEM, and BE NICE TO THEM, and then ran for our lives. I'm pretty sure we have a spot in TD next year...) he he he, keep d...

It goes against what burningman is to me. I let people look at my art which takes months to prepare without asking for anything in exchange. I prefer to say "yes" you may or "no" you may not. Then don't go to Thunderdome. Or build your own dome, and let people fight in it for free. I have never hea...

David Best actually stopped to say, "It's not my fault". Did he pick the music? As for the music, the songs Marissa sang were specifically chosen because of their connections to Burners David Best knew who had died in the last year. Thanks, Kelly. Re: Instruction sheet

I'm curious, however. Have the actual creators of the temples expressed particular upset over certain types of behavior? Have they said explicitly they don't want laser pointers shined on it? THAT would get my ear, rather than the presumptive enforcement of the Self-Righteous Brothers. I know I'm v...

Fire Arts Festival - Seeking Man in White

I sang for the finale at the fire arts festival. A man in a white hat (if I recall correctly) and a white coat (also, iirc) complimented me after my performance and asked if and where I'd be singing on the playa this year. I was quickly distracted and he walked off before I could answer his question...
