...and the headliner is YOU! Make your way to CAMP ASTERIX at 8:15 & C and sign up for a 5 to 10 min slot. Newbs and comedy vets alike. Just get up there and make us laugh. No auditions, no workshops, no worries. Nightly performances start at 8:15p and go until we're out of "take my playa wife, plea...

I have a 10x20 Costco carport that I use as a "porch" for my RV (eliminating the worry over the rv's awning getting shredded by the wind.) The challenge, though, was adding speed rail legs to raise the height of the carport so that it would fit over the RV's house door. I measured twice, cut once, d...

It's illegal to ride in a travel trailer while it's being towed.

Hey all, EB here, first time, long time. I've been attending off and on since 2000 & still can't believe we're at 70k attendees. It's a good thing ticket prices haven't gone up! So I'm thinking of putting together a small camp (around 10, mixture of vets and virgins) with the purpose of hosting a sm...

It's a big desert. There's room for everybody.

OP, your rants and death threats make you sound like Francis from "Stripes." (RIP Harold Ramis.)

Perspective, please.

It's a ticket to a desert camping trip not a donated liver.

Couple of protons walk into a bar, first proton says to the other, hey, that's the hot electron I was telling you about. Second one says "are you sure?" First one says "I'm positive."

It's all in the hands now of the guy who fake-vacuums the playa.

I echo all the stuff said here, but one tip that's often overlooked. You don't need a huge variety of stuff to serve. Keep that for yourself. Pick a signature drink or three, prep those and offer them. Variety and "you call it drinks" are for larger bars. For instance, if you think you're going to ...

If you get a Honda EU generator (or its ilk), no. If you bring a cheapie, yes... but it won't help, IMO. Honda's aren't cheap, but as Capn Goddamit would say: they're less expensive than a generator that sits dormant because you're too embarrassed to use. I think after "Stereo volume," "Generator no...

Whatever. The CO now joins Lemur on my "foe" list. So it goes. Guys, I'm not into starting flame wars. You love the event, I love the event. I just had to call Trilo out on his nonsense as he has been spreading it pretty thick over these threads since the lottery. For my part, I will re-double my ef...

Only loser mega-posters use tiny font.

@EB-Actually, Occams Razor states that when presented with competing hypotheses, selecting the one that makes the fewest new assumptions usually provides the correct one , and that the simplest explanation will be the most plausible until evidence is presented to prove it false . EB's Hypothesis: B...

I still believe the wild card that mucked up everybody's odds was the one thing not one person could ever have predicted (and I don't recall seeing anybody calling it on the boards)… a massively viral video that likely led to more new signups (both as percentage and total number) than the event has...

Just a random thought, are those who were denied tickets going to be the squeaky wheels and skew the perception of how many burners got tickets? 10 people shouting is louder then 1000 people rejoicing? And not on eplaya? I'm confused by this post, AntiM. Is this not the "Didn't get tickets" thread?...

While I stipulate to calling out shitty behavior and stealing bikes is just that, I gotta ask out loud again about the virtue of the yellow bike program. It seems to strike a nerve in a lot of burners to the point of obsession in "sniffing out a cheater." How is a free bike radically self-reliant? O...

Echoing an earlier sentiment --

Volunteering at, say, lamplighters or the Coffeehouse or Greeters, is a GREAT way to lose the butterflies because you're DOING something.

Dude you HAVE to pick a time and place for everybody who's been following this thread to meet so we can CHECK OUT THOSE PANTS! They're AWESOME! Well done!

Classic rookie mistake.

Remember, at Burning Man:

"Ham then Absinthe makes you Absent(h) but Absinthe Then Ham? Goddamn!

BetaBox wrote:No worries about bacon-steak-blood-water.

Baconsteak Bloodwater is the name given to me by the Souix. How weird.

Your Playa name is Flounder.

This is a fools errand. If you've been before then you know it will be impossible to "experience" burning man without going out amongst others. Is it possible to keep someone locked in an RV all day? Yes. Are they "experiencing' Burning Man? Of course not. I predict you will be miserable trying to m...

Available for $38 at Sports Authority. I'm sure cheaper elsewhere.

Actually, yeah, we did envision people walking alongside playing it. Even at 5 mph, this sounds very dangerous. Especially with the crappy playa conditions we've been having the last few years. It's not outside the realm of possibility somebody could fall under a wheel and get run over before you k...

Hey Little Jack, I bought this same model several years ago and brought it to the playa. It's perfect for a small camp (2-4 people) but isn't big enough for a larger group. The biggest problem with playa sinks, IMO, is that people regress into thinking it's okay to stack their dishes. One dish attra...
