Re: Experience with Global Vision Eliminator Goggles?
No matter what you buy, it doesn't hurt to have a spare pair. I unknowingly popped one of the lenses out on my goggles last year when I wasn't wearing them, but thankfully had a backup pair.

Re: Seeking a Large White Parachute
I've seen tons of pictures on here of parachute covered comes that were completely shredded within 24 hours due to wind. I can't remember if cutting holes to allow the wind to pass through was enough to prevent/delay wind damage. Consider instead making a covering out of Tyvek house wrap. It was ext...

I found one camp that brought their own pizza oven out there (can't remember if it was wood or propane). They were going to give me some, but I came back at the wrong time

You wanna know the main difference between Burning Man and Rainbow? LOVE. It's called Family for a reason. I don't even know if I wanna go to Burning Man anymore. I really don't think my nappy-headed, wood-dwelling kind would be welcome there. So I'll stick with the place where I know all I'll hear...

Re: help if you can - BLM ticked problem
I'm not an American, so I don't know how American courts usually operate, but in Canada you can get a ticket tossed out if there is incomplete/incorrect information listed on it. I would definitely talk to Lawyers for Burners and see if they can get it dismissed for you. In my opinion, this is the b...

The bar itself was called the Panda Bar, not sure about the camp itself though. My Saturday afternoon got rather *hazy* there...how I made it down the stairs and back to my camp without breaking my neck is beyond me. Anytime they had music going, it was awesome! Re: "Board Meeting" Art Car
A couple of the Boosh boys suited up in 2009 or 2010 for that art car- I remember it was very hot weather, they came trudging back to camp in thier monkey suits, hot and tired. Apparently when they "downsize" you are asked to leave the art car - no matter where it is in the city- They had a long ho...

Re: "MaxCold" coolers - 5 days of ice?
My Coleman had ice (purchased in Reno) from Tuesday to Saturday and the water/beer was still ice cold when we rolled out Sunday afternoon. The cooler stayed inside our tent trailer, which probably helped quite a bit.

I guess I sort of missed the concept if this was what it was supposed to be, but I still found it amusing. I just thought it was about people in formal attire mocking others for being "under dressed" at Burning Man. Still, it was hilarious!

Re: Tip- Keys and IDs
I used a photocopied ID all week and only had one place where I met any sort of resistance. I was going to laminate it, but I just made two copies and kept them in my pack. My keys stayed in my friend's locked car the whole time and the keys to that car stayed in the tent trailer. If only I used a l...

Cleaning duffel bags, backpacks etc
Is there really any solution for getting the grimey feeling out of your favourite bag? Thankfully I used totes for most of my gear, but the pack that went with me everywhere is kinda gross now, as expected. If I could clean it, that'd be awesome, as I absolutely love the design of it. Otherwise, I w...

Re: "MaxCold" coolers - 5 days of ice?
Not with that specific brand, but I have a "5 day" cooler made by Coleman and like it. At a festival earlier this summer, I used frozen water bottles intermingled with my beer and added one bag of ice on the first day. After 3 days, I had half a bag of ice leftover and the remaining beer was still i...

Re: What size backpack to bring?
Another thing I'll add is that I've never really been a huge fan of hydration packs...something about the sloshing of water with every step. Something happened with the 1.5 L bladder in mine and I ended up using it as a small cycling bag.

I'm bringing two bags: one with all my daytime stuff and one for night. The daytime pack is bigger and the night pack is more streamlined and will hopefully not interfere with dancing.

playa bike care
Since I couldn't find a single gear crusier on the cheap, I will more than likely be bringing a mountain bike (of questionable upkeep) to the playa this year. Any tips for keeping the gears/chain from gumming up with playa dust? My bike maintenance knowledge is near-zero (beyond changing tire tubes)...

Re: Has anyone used these goggles before?
Hmm that's good to know about the astaxanthin, as I am normally loath to leave the house without my shades. Is it something you'd find at a health food store? Wikipedia didn't seem to have too much info on it from a cursory glance. My plan was to use the goggles sparingly when the dust is flying (or...

Re: How many hours do YOU have in your "masterpiece"?
This year is rather light on the actual building, but fairly heavy on the preparation and planning, as this will be my first time. I definitely want to tackle a twisting, soldering, sewing project for my next burn, or even just 'cause.
