Awwww...

You're making me blush!

Thanks everyone for the info, I'll be sure to bring documentation.

Can't wait to see everyone this year! The kiddos are super excited. The oldest's birthday falls on burn day this year. Quite the birthday party...

Kids Tickets and Documentation

Hey everyone! It's been a minute since I was last on here. Good to see everyone still active on here. So... getting ready for 2017! Big change this year... we're taking our children to burning man! Woo! What an adventure! My question is this, the org now requires a "Kids ticket" which is f...

Re: The 747

I saw the Catacombs both at night and during the day before the burn. I thought it was beautiful, and if things were missing or destroyed, I didn't notice. It was especially poignant at night, with all the candles lit up on the walls. I think they did a fabulous job. I did not contribute to their cr...

Here, here. Mayan Warrior was awesomesauce this year!

We never really make a point to visit the big sound cars, but those twinkling lights and primal sounds had us walking clear across playa like moths to the flame. They definitely rocked it.

Re: Vandals Strike 2016 Sound Camp Infrastructure

Second-year burner here, who brought my 'virgin' wife this year. We had an overall blast (meltdowns and all) and a BM experience we'd dreamed of, but I can also say EVERY detracting element we encountered was related to PnP camps (which is why I'm following this thread). 1. While dancing at an EDM ...

Best year yet. I volunteered with Emergency Services again, but in a different capacity this year. I was basically a data wrangler and I loved it. Sounds super boring, but it was just my kind of nerdy.

Re: Midnight Poutine at Burning Man 2016 : Fundraiser

No, snark is absolutely tolerated. It just seemed like a senseless post. Why are they upset that a camp is fundraising, on a post in SUPPORT A PROJECT? It is literally an entire subsection of eplaya dedicated to fundraising. As in, camps asking for funds for whatever it is they are bringing to the p...

Re: Midnight Poutine at Burning Man 2016 : Fundraiser

Um... it looks like their campaign was solely to fund the purchase of cheese curds, potatoes, and propane, a la "sponsor a burner meal". Also it was already funded last week.

This snark seems senseless.

Re: Attic barrier/ Insulation

Thanks everyone! Yeah, that was the post I was looking for. I love those giant huts. I wish we had the space for the supplies for a monkey hut... I do have some old shock corded tent poles from our deceased tent and some of that camo netting we normally throw over the dome. Maybe I can string some o...

Attic barrier/ Insulation

Several months ago I read a post about someone using a silver attic insulation over their tent. I thought I saved the post, but I cannot for the life of me find it. I tried all the usual searches. Can someone send me in the right direction... OR has anyone had experience with this product. We are fl...

Re: Advice for an aspiring burner doctor

Of course it ultimately depends on how conservative your school is, but I think it could be beneficial in demonstrating your well-roundedness. If you have a diverse resume, adding something else that showcases your leadership abilities could be favorable. You could soften the extremity of it by phra...

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Very nice dress, AntiM. You should definitely bring it. Hoping to run into other people dressed up in the piazza. Could be a great chance for some performance art. Lol. I picked a pattern and fabric for the chemise, which will poke out of the sleeves. 20160516_...

Playawear Work In Progress 2016

I hope it is alright that I start this years WIP thread. I am excited about my newest project. Probably my most ambitious yet. 20160509_184000.jpg The gold fabric is for the underskirt. Thinking of a light blue overdress. Haven't found the perfect fabric yet. All told looking at about 14 yards of fa...

When he pulled me aside at first, he was definitely not smiling. In fact, he seemed like he had had a really tough night. He was hoarse, almost mute, and had a sort of desperate look to him. I could tell he needed a strong drink, and I made him one. It was difficult to communicate with him because ...

Kitty- I guess you made it through the fire scheduling software today, then. I got my five shifts into the system and am wait listed for a couple more. I go out pre-burn week and stay post-burn, so they are spread out pretty well. My husband is the firefighter. But, yeah, he got his shifts in. Our ...

Having avoided all things Burning Man last year, since we couldn't go, I have finally admitted it is time to get going on this year. Hubby also got his ESD shifts in, I'm still waiting for my last FEMA cert, but will hopefully get that squared away shortly. Panic is definitely starting to set in. We...

Twice we set out for the M&G, and twice we failed. Third time's the charm!

Hopefully its not on the complete opposite side of the city, looks like we might be bike-less this year (flying/burner expressing for the first time).

But we'll make. I just know it. :D

Yes! It is so confusing. If its a meat pie, it should be savory! I still haven't tried one.

TPBM is going to leave Halloween decorations up till Thanksgiving.
