Re: ASL on the playa
My dad was deaf, and my mom teaches ASL.. I've retained a bit since learning as a kid, and try to use it whenever I come across another person, deaf or not, who knows sign. Is Illumination Village a deaf camp? I have no idea. It was just what the person wrote down. Weird thing, though. She signed h...

ASL on the playa
I've recently started studying ASL, (American Sign Language). Until now, I've had basically no contact with Deaf people besides seeing them from time to time at a store or something. However, I got an opportunity to use my rudimentary ASL knowledge at Burning Man this year, and I thought I'd share a...

Re: Hand launched RC glider?
There were several people flying various RC planes and gliders out there this year. I was flying a Superfly out between Thunderdome and the pier. Did it have LED's (or some kind of glow on it)? Because I saw something like that glowing as it flew around the sky on multiple nights and I could not ge...

Re: Red Light on Aircraft (???) Before Temple Burn
I seriously doubt it was an R/C aircraft. I brought my R/C Superfly to the playa and was flying off between the pier and Thunderdome both day and night. To fly at night, you really need lighting on the craft to indicate its orientation in space, so you know what direction it is pointed in. Additiona...

Re: R/C Planes on the Playa
I've got a 2.4Ghz radio. The Spektrum Dx7. I've sent off emails to both playatech and rchobbyist to check in with them about frequencies and such. Thanks for the heads up on those. There's surprisingly little information out there on flying R/C at burning man. The links mentioned above mostly lead t...

Re: R/C Planes on the Playa
Searching the board doesn't really return much of value. The results all discuss airplane trips and such. There was a post on burningman.com a few years ago about this, but it doesn't appear to be on the site anymore.

R/C Planes on the Playa
I installed some EL wire on my electric SuperFly R/C plane to enable it for night flight to bring to the Playa. Looks pretty cool, and my test flights are promising in terms of visibility, cool factor, and handling in windy conditions. Does anyone out there that's flown R/C on the playa have any tip...
