Re: I recieved a ticket, but this lottery thing is BOGUS!
"Ya gotta earn the burn!" Spoken like someone that got his ticket. Can't you even feel a little sympathy for those that are hurting right now? Ad hominem will get you no sympathy. I'm stating the same thing said since last years ticket sellout. If you want a ticket and don't have one, whinging won'...

Oh, RedHeaven, a couple of my BMIR friends said the majority of their camp didn't get tickets, including the station manager.
So...

Re: I recieved a ticket, but this lottery thing is BOGUS!
So don't come. Don't be a part of the event. Bye, bye... the rest of us will make it without you. I am not a BM'org apologist. i am a Burner. And you trying to bring me down is not going to fuck with my burn. Most of my campmates don't have tickets - but dammit we are going to make it work. Cool st...

Re: I recieved a ticket, but this lottery thing is BOGUS!
This lottery system was a terrible idea that completely (and totally unsurprisingly) backfired, and no amount of elitist BMOrg apologists spouting off ridiculous "catch-phrases" in a haughty, patriarchal tone is going to change that. ------------- As an aside, I think I can finally admit to myself t...

Re: I recieved a ticket, but this lottery thing is BOGUS!
They were not denied, they just didn't get tickets in the lottery. Patience, and persevere. Your friends can find tickets, but just like we told you last year, they have to put the effort into looking for them. What's the point, you asked? You go to an awesome thing in the desert and make up to 53,...

I recieved a ticket, but this lottery thing is BOGUS!
How excited I was when I got an email telling me that yes! I indeed received a ticket through the lottery system! A $409 ticket! (Yes, yes, I put the top ticket price as max amount I would be willing to pay to increase my chances, but in no way am stoked on paying the highest amount in FEBRUARY) OK,...

Re: Some dysfunctions this year
I only saw the skeletons spin earlier in the week from a distance. Later in the week we'd check on it and it wouldn't be spinning. I guess next time I'll investigate the pieces closer to see if they need to be manually operated. We came upon this piece when a large group of people were trying to ge...

Re: Doesn't the new theme get posted right after the Man bur
Whatever theme is decided, I sure hope its better than "Rites of Passage". Wow. Vague theme = vague, tiny, unimpressive art. I saw a lot of boats. So that made the giant dock pretty cool. But my late night romps into deep playa were pitiful and saved only by a rousing game of bowl-o-pool.

Re: 2011 Entrance - how can we reduce the wait to < 4 hrs???
We got in line at about 8:30pm on Sunday night, after a brief bathroom visit/beer at Bruno's. We were headed to our camp at about 12:25. We had lots of fun dancing around the line, playing music, talking to people, and sharing snacks. I had hoped for it to be quicker, but 4 hours didn't seem absurd ...

Re: Cell Phone coverage
Every year my birthday usually falls at the end of the week. This year my birthday is on Monday, and I will be in Reno then. I only use my cell phone to make a call to my parents and brother on that day, if I find service. 2009 was pretty cool because Friday, my birthday, I was all of a sudden magic...

Re: Indian Tacos
I love the indian tacos! The difference is in the sort of shell they use. Its a sort of flat bread. I usually get one on the way into TTITD, but last year exodus took us 3 HOURS and I was starving by then and my last Cliff bar looked extremely unappetizing by that point.

Re: dry ice
Headed to Alliance Gas Products in Oakland tomorrow to grab my dry ice! They sell it for $1 per pound. What I'm doing is taking a separate, small cooler for all the dry ice, my ice cream, and my chocolate coated bananas. I keep these items in large freezer bags to prevent the CO2 flavor. I also keep...

Digital SLR protection out on the Playa
I know this question has been posed twice before in previous years, but I'm wondering if any photographers out there have any new clever tricks for bringing an SLR out on the playa. I brought mine out last year, and thanks to the rain, I was able to take a lot of pictures around my camp safely, but ...

Awesome, Sexy, Orphans looking for a home in YOUR camp!
So, this years plans have taken one sucker punch after another. The current drama is that our wonderful camp of many years merged with Burn Town this year. Burn Town placed a cap on campers. That cap was met. Our camp mates failed to let us in on this until yesterday. This is problematic, as I like ...

Re: Rest In Peace
I've been sitting here trying to write a eulogy. This whole thing is weighing really heavily on me. I feel like if I stop grieving at all, she really will be gone forever. I just got the two will-call tickets confirmed a few minutes ago. Which is really neat. But I'm still on the fence. But maybe th...

Re: Rest In Peace
My grandmother died Saturday morning. She was my second mom, she helped raise me. I love her so much. The funeral is on Friday in southern California. I'm delivering the eulogy, with my brother. I finally got a lead on will-call tickets from my Swiss friend who had some people drop out of his crew, ...

Hi Audio Sam Ego! Welcome to the board . . . If you're truly a speed demon, be really careful the closer you get to Black Rock City. Local law enforcement is quite serious about the posted limits (25mph in Gerlach) . . . and if you get a speeding ticket on tribal land, they will expect you to post ...

DRY ICE IS THE SHIT. If you pack it in your coolers just right (ice size to food items ratio), you can have frozen and refrigerated goods all week long, and way less drippy nasty ice mess. That's all I have to say on the matter.

Re: New street map for 2011
Off center camp is dangerously close to our camp, though I think we've decided to ditch our camping spot at merge with Burn Town to create "Wannaburntown" for this year, on the (nearly) opposite side of the Playa. Which is good because we've always been a bit too close to Apokalyptika for my liking.

Hell yeah! I totally agree! Remember the conversation we had about one or two good newbies coming out of the tickepocalypse? As I've said before, I've lurked this board for years for tips and advice. The "tickepocalypse" was simply the catalyst to get me to start an account and open my loud mouth.

Hi! I think I'm making frenemies on the ticket 2011 boards, so I thought I'd waddle over here and introduce myself all proper. I've been going to burning man for several years. Took me a few years to work up the nerve/logistics to go. I first heard about it when the population was still at a comfort...

Orphan Burner Events 2011
For whatever reason, you may not or will not be making it to the Playa this year. Didn't get a ticket in time before the historical sell-out, couldn't afford it, couldn't get the time off, just aren't feeling it for 2011 - whatever your reason. Let's create a space where people can make connections...
