Re: What if 70K people wanted to go?

What if 70K people wanted to go?

Then I would assume that the BMORG would still discriminate and give tickets to the big theme camps and those they deem more worthy than others. So fuck it.

Left at 4:30 am-ish. Planned to leave earlier, but our battery died. THANK YOU to the couple in the pick-up that helped us with a jump. I had to flag down and ask several people before finding help -- and hey, I completely understand -- at that point you just want to leave and not dick around helpin...

Re: Bizarre LEO experience/observation..

The night of the burn of the Man, I stopped to chat with a county officer walking around by himself. I found that extremely significant since if there were even a tiny shred of fear of any violence, they would be in pairs. If there was the slightest question of their own safety in a crowd this size...

Re: **ANXIETY**

I'm desperately trying to heal this darn upper respiratory infection that hit me hard on Saturday. (Ironically it came on the day after I accidentally got a big ol' lung full of old playa dust from digging out our shade structure, tent, etc.) Ugh! Why now?!? Other than that, my only slight concern i...

If you have to puke and you have no bag, etc... hopefully you have the wherewithall to try to aim AWAY from people's camps! Our second morning on the playa we awoke to find lovely red-wine colored puke decorating the side our our shade structure. blech

Re: Car Camping, and why my friends suck

I haven't read through the rest of the replies, so I apologize if this is redundant... however I wanted to share my car camping experience. In 2006 I went with one of my best girlfriends and we ended up just sleeping in our rented SUV. It was fine and we had a blast! Granted, our camp was rather pat...

Re: Comfy shoes for the ladies?

I will be wearing these (see jpg) again this year. Just super comfy affordable boots. Keeps the playa dust out and enables prolonged romping. Plus, they go with everything somehow... and honestly, unless your footwear is glowing or shooting flames, nobody pays it much mind. http://www.arcanacreative...

Re: Gifts for the playa

Hello All What do my fellow e-playans think about the gift of a piece of orgonite??? I just got a bunch of pretty-colored (pink, blue, green) orgonite "tower busters" that I'd like to give as gifts. My only hesitations are that 1) most people don't know what this is or 2) it might be looked upon as ...

I actually liked the CNN piece from the OP. Thanks, CNN! Ditto. I wasn't sure what to expect coming from CNN... but I think they did a fair job in their reporting -- and it is this kind of thing that makes it a lot easier to explain Burning Man to those in the default world that either have never h...

Not exactly a positive experience, but definitely felt appreciative on the night of the burn. Re: Playa Lung Anyone?

Well for the 3rd year in a row I have come down with what I affectionately like to call the "playa lung!" What generally happens is sometime sunday I get this tingly feeling in my throat which quickly turns into a cough. For the next 4-5 days I cough, and cough, and cough. Lots of good mucus and th...

1. Our North Pole Party Shade Structure worked like a dream! Easy to set-up and maintain... and plenty of shade during the day. (Of course, the dust/wind storms were minimal this year.) Highly recommend this structure!!! Other things that worked really well: 2. Being EXTREMELY organized. When everyt...

I hear you Wind Borne, and respect that you have an opinion as well. Perhaps our differences lie at the core of what Burning Man means to each of us -- and it is different I'm sure for many. One man's "city of sin" is another woman's "expression of inclusive community & creative potential"... and so...

I hate to sound cliche -- but the children are our future. Period. End of story. And I would much rather leave the world in the hands of burners than in the hands of those in the machine (so to speak). So, sorry, but you are not going to change my opinion. *shrug* If children are so limiting to your...

quick question: imperative to have brakes on playa bike?

I have a beater that we fixed the chain on, but it doesn't have brakes. Not sure if I should find an alternative bike or ride the one I have. I can't recall how important it would be to have brakes, since I never thought twice about it before. And I need to figure this out ASAP!!! So... I thought I'...

Just did a test run in the park... setting it up for the first time. Not as much shade as I'd hoped, but the additional side panel helped. Also the shade footprint will be moving throughout the day. Just more reason to go out and explore! Overall I'm pleased, we'll see how she holds up on the playa.
