Re: Flame poofer and solenoid valves
I used the cheap solenoids and had no problems using my rig in Michigan, but after running it full tilt out on the playa, the tank frosted up a little and pressure dropped, poofers sputtered and valves would be erratic. I was using 6 poofers on 1/2" lines and one on a 3/4" line, all fed by a 1" mani...

Re: Scaffolding towers
That's quite a piece of cloth, well, four pieces of cloth. What would you use? Would it be durable enough to withstand the winds? Strong enough to be stretched tight over such large areas without sagging, or would it have plenty of added support? Light enough to wrestle with? Waterproof? Sunblocking...

Re: French wedding
How awesome a wedding that is! If you would like a ceremony that will allow you to meld your minds into a powerful explosion of dusty fire, consider visiting KognitoKhan, where you will be able to wear Kognito-Krowns (headsets) that convert your brainwave energy into fireballs shooting out the top o...

Re: Shade for industry, shade for the head.
Yeah, I'm leaning toward a scaled down version of the star tents, like MozyBonz posted... https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=23569 ...a few of these encircling our tower should stay put with appropriate anchoring. And I can build some windbreaks that can be moved around inside each tent d...

Re: Shade for industry, shade for the head.
I'm thinking pyramid shaped, wide base, low profile, deep anchors, with ventilation holes/ports/slots to allow ventilation and prevent air pressure build up and launch. Reasonable? And this type of feedback is just what we're looking for. Well, the best solution is what we're actually looking for, b...

Shade for industry, shade for the head.
We are hoping to place our art, KognitoKhan, on the playa this year and we want to provide shade shelters for our patrons. Question is, what kind of shelters? We're thinking simple structures made of a few sheets of plywood and a few 2x2's or something, strong enough to withstand the wind, but easy ...

KognitoKhan looking for collaboration
We have a 30' tall fire-spewing art piece that has been set up in camp for the last few years, and now it is ready for the playa. Inspired one dark night in deep playa 2011, KognitoKhan uses brain wave energy from dust-breathing desert travelers to control 10 flame cannons that reach out to the star...

Re: Muse in seek of art installation creators!
Hey 4 z, nice idea. I had an idea that occurred one lonely night in deep playa during my first burn, and I knew I couldn't even come close to pulling it off alone, so I started a Meetup group when I got back to Kalamazoo. We had a group of 14 in no time, including the dude who made it a reality, Eli...

Re: Art Grant Submission Deadline: February 15
In previous years, the application was able to be downloaded offline so you could share it to be worked on with others. Now it seems like it needs to be completed in one sitting. Is this the case? On the "artgrant-form" page there is a link to a sample application pdf that we can download and use t...

Got online right at 12, firefox blocked reloading so I reloaded every 2 minutes or so (timer would only update when I reloaded) but not sure if I was resetting my place in the queue. Finally got through to the pay window after 2 hours, lost connection, retried and got it back, paid with no further i...

Re: Anecdotal stuff
Pretty gratifying to see tickets on eBay going for face or less now, and those auctions with a start price higher than face and fees are ending without a single bid. Gotta be some irony in folks expecting to make an easy chunk of cash scalping a ticket, and then get "burned".

I feel a little hesitant to post this, but I don't think it is against the principles of gifting or decommodification. There is nothing commercial going on here, and you can always refuse the reward. You decide, and if the consensus is otherwise, I will struggle and change. I am part of a small team...

Re: distributed tickets
The distributed ticket is a sure thing, but the STEP ticket might not happen, I suppose. Of course, I'm sure you got your STEP mojo working, so you should be okay? If a camp is offering a direct ticket, they have probably paid for it already and just expect you to reimburse them, probably with some ...

Artist: Vachot Project Name: KognitoKlast City: Kalamazoo Description of 2012 plans: We are bringing a mind-cleanser, a brain-washer, or maybe you'd call it a cognitive-conditioner, to the desert this year. It analyzes brain activity with pyrotechnical flame cannons and music. We have the basic desi...

Hypothetical question...
So, I known this guy who didn't buy a ticket in time last year because he wasn't really motivated, and wouldn't have registered in time this year if I didn't remind him, but he did and sure enough, he got 2 tickets, while most of us planned, connived, strategized and performed a ritual ceremony for ...

Re: Please make the final 10,000 non refundable tickets. Lim
Or, if they could get BLM permission they could open up ticket sales, top tier, one per person, and sell as many as people want. Then, all those people who bought more tickets than they need would be stuck with them. Maybe BMORG would end up selling 80,000 tickets and only 60,000 people would show u...

Re: Who plans on submitting tickets into STEP program?
It would be pretty reasonable to assume that last year almost everybody who went, really wanted to go. This year there will likely be plenty of people who did not bother to register, and probably would not have even thought of going 'cept for some friend who had some extra tickets. Seems like it kin...

Re: input needed
Your design shows a 12 inch diameter hoop; pretty tight circle to bend some of that tubing, unless your use something like 1/2" copper pipe, which comes already coiled in about the right size, but kinda expensive, although it can be buffed up to shine good. Solder it to a short piece of 1" copper pi...

We're building a large art piece for BRC 2012 and we need more members to pull it off because it will take a crew to run, being very interactive fire-art (1 to 6 burners at a time). We are based in Kalamazoo where we have a workshop for putting everything together. We have a solid human-machine inte...
