Re: My "deluxe" FIGJAM cooler

I've finally gotten around to documenting the build of my "deluxe" FIGJAM cooler, deployed on playa last year with great success. My improvements consist primarily of intake air filtration and an industrial-grade in-line fan to pressurize my tent with dust-free air 24/7, even when no evap cooling i...

Re: Small Theme Camp looking for a Village to join

Your "storefront" looks o.k. to me in general, but I hope others will comment. You're not coming hat in hand to fit within a village, so don't cramp it, but do stay contained. My gut feel is: o more space around your bike racks, so bikes aren't sticking out onto the street, o more space for bikes to...

Shame. A clock face can be "read" at a glance. A digital clock has to be read and involves language processing, more time, more stress (if minimal). ... As anyone who's ever had to give directions in BRC knows, plenty of adults have trouble finding their way around the face of a clock also. Hmmm Per...

Playa dust isn't even soil in a sensu stricto soil science sense. It's just sedimentary particles. Like loess ( another type of wind-deposited dust) it has weird mechanical properties. Except we're not in 'unsafe conditions' and need to make something questionable drinkable to survive, provided one is using potable water. So there's no need to have any exposure, or using chancy water and getting the chlorine and the resultant chloramines.

They look great for use in regular soils. Nice and wide to compact the soil the threads are in, and even widening near fully 'installed' to compact the disturbed soil more.
