Whenever I run into some poor fool passed out on the Playa from heat exhaustion, I do the honorable life saving manouver all Playa denizens should know; Just unload and piss on them, get in good and tight on the ears and neck, then a good dollop on the face ... Saves a life! Surprising how much ene...

Boy do you have a lot of reading to do. There can be issues with bringing an RV to the playa, but lots do. And more potential issues if it's a rental. Some rentals have even been confiscated by their owners as going to BRC wasn't authorized. And there can be extra generator fees, or large cleaning f...

There's an idea. Many of the weekly/daily regulars could sign up to be "Mini-mods" : only the power to quarantine (spam) posts. Mini-mods would be instructed to quarantine only spam or offensive disallowed/porn type threads/posts. Quarantine power means many can be Mini-mods, with true Mods reviewin...

PGE filed. On Tuesday morning, California utility Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy (PDF), citing billions of dollars in potential damages and fines stemming from liability in several 2017 and 2018 wildfires. The utility noted in its Tuesday filing that it has secured $...

Re: Tricycle fabbing advice: bending square tube

Well, if you can't find a way to DIY or a place to bend that without compromising its strength, you do have a tried and true method of fabbing with straight pieces.
I find straight pieces make a nice contrast to the round wheels.
And two pieces joined at 90 can be three at 45, or four at 30, etc..

... The point here is not the fact that it's PnP camp, which we regret to have supported and learn from now. It is that the camp leaders kept money they should not be entitled to and effectively made a business out of leaving the playa dirty themselves. Benefiting at the expense of the principles a...

I agree, that it is not right to support such a Plug and Play camp. But as a virgin, we had no choice and no idea how this camp would operate, had we known, we would have looked for another one. But that does not justify us losing money to those crooks who abuse the virginity of people to fill thei...

Re: Electric Quad-wheel Fatbike wheelchair

Canoe, I'm surprised at you. Why are you asking instead of looking it up? the DMV, (department of mutant vehicles), isn't hidden. The short answer is YES. If it is a motorized 4 wheel vehicle You need to apply for a permit for the event. If you are disabled and have adequate proof, you get to use i...

Canoe. It really is to everyones advantage at the event to play by the rules. Its not complicated. If you are genuinely disabled, get your vehicle permit. If not, make it art and apply for the license. Able bodied participants can create a pleasing 4 wheeler. I agree for able bodied participants. A...

Could depend. E-bike is defined at max three wheels. Wheelchairs have four wheels. Is this a four-wheeled e-bike (a vehicle), or a wheelchair with large wheels made from e-bike parts? Electric Quad-wheel Fatbike wheelchair

This off road wheel chair goes 20 miles per hour, and should have a range of 20-30 miles. It cost me about $3,000usd (mostly the price of the bikes). About 50 dollars worth of metal for the seat, and about 3 full days to design and assemble the whole wheelchair. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3_m...

Make sure you consider: holding it up/down, wind loads, climbing loads.
You're not the first to anchor an art piece. See what others did.

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

Yup
Looks like it would be more than a little bendy (breaky) under a heavy load.
A long bare shank means the threads disturb the soil going in but don't leave threads grabbing it for much of the length.
But might work well in some soils.
