Re: Biggest MOOP in the history of Burning Man

... I know right where it is and want to visit it in the late spring to see how shot up it gets... I take it the 'owners' aren't familiar with rural. At least there's bound to be some that hit low and let the water drain out that gets in from the higher holes. Wonder if it already has some drain ho...

The location will be a closely-guarded secret in order to keep vandals from visiting the project with spray paint cans, torque wrenches, or whatever other tools they’d use for mischief.
Next round of sat images will show it.

drift warning A chimney... will draw air up sucking the already hot air from the inside of the Yurt. (My fanless part of evaporation cooler) Nice try, but no free lunch. Although that will create a negative air pressure inside the yurt, you're hoping to draw adequate airflow through a wetted swamp-c...

In the interest of giving back I'm gonna piss in the lag screw pond here with my monkey hut solution which worked for me this year (first big burn, yay). I got 24" long 1/2" lag screws then cut 10-12" sections of 1/2" PVC "sleeves" to put around the top half of the lag screws. Below the PVC I put so...

Re: Material for letting in air/keeping out dust

Wish I'd noticed this before BM. Oddly, the best way to get fresh air without getting dust inside is to use a small swamp-cooler. If you're not concerned about chilling the air, the smallest DIY size, the bucket cooler, will do this job. What chilling it provides is a bonus. (Depending on the size o...

Re: Tower for mounting LED art up high?

How large, how high? A fibre-glass/aluminum paint roller extension pole may work. I got an 8'-16' for a flag & strobe light. A wood pole was trimmed to fit in the bottom (a foot and a bit?), with a tiny 1/4" taper at its top, so it wouldn't have a hard edge to load the fibreglass. Then I could drill...

Perhaps you should look at what data they've said they're collecting, and compare that to the data they've released in the past and are no longer releasing. Like drive times to/from Wadsworth. Maybe they're no longer collecting it (possible, but not likely). But they sure aren't releasing it anymore.

For those looking back and planning their Exodus, Today BMT reported a vehicle fire on 447, then a wildfire along 447.
