um. yes the street signs do get stolen. i happen to have a venus sign from last year that was aquired in the early morning hours on sunday. but it is part of the experience. and if you can't find your way around without signs by the end of the week, then you get to go on a little adventure.

i was there in 2001. parts of the playa were dustier than others. unfortunately we happened to camp on the dustier side of the playa... the 3 o'clock side. it was work biking in it. even with a mountain bike. people with thin tires or not so great bikes didn't do very well.. and often ended up walki...
