Re: BRC Weather

Looks like it rained in Reno pretty hard and on the playa today and Thursday? We are delaying our early entry since the weather station link seems to be down for playa conditions.

the challenge with the electric scooters is they will last about an hour on a charge or 12-15 miles and that is at an average of 160 lbs. Adding weight will decrease the range. I've been looking at modifying one with solar but after researching it the range isn't there.

Be careful not to use something that is too tightly woven as it will pack with playa. What looks great on the first day will not by the next day :( Last year we used landscape fabric which we wanted to look like stone...it did but we also had lights behind it and it looked great the first day and th...

Are you planning on plugging in to draw 30 amps? Your A/C system will draw that much to power one and if it has two you will need more. A typical 110 electrical cord is not going to work, you will have to use your shore hook up and buy an extension to that and find someone with a 30 amp or 50 amp ho...

Are you speaking of the Coleman CL3900? I believe they are 60 watt. They are battery chargers and have an inverter. They cost about $350 I think and are available at camping world I believe or Costco.
Typically we use then along with a serious of car batteries.

I know someone who was out on the playa by the back of an art car that decided to spark one up with a few friends. 4 Rangers said they watched him from start to finish by taking it out of his backpack, spark it, pass it around the group, and they busted him. I saw the whole thing going down but didn...

Satellite Phone Problems on Playa

For those of you who have leased a Globalstar Sat Phone be aware that they are not working very well at all out on the Playa. Globalstar lost a few of their satellites so the coverage and quality stinks. I sent one to my group the other day and they are trying to use it but calls are dropped very qu...

Re: RV Water Re-supply?

Does anyone know if besides the waste removal trucks that come around to drain the septic tank if there is also a truck that can replenish fresh (although probably not drinkable) water supply? Do not put non-potable water in to your holding tank! It's non-potable for a reason. Putting that stuff in...

you can purchase the style that has area sensors for about 40 bucks and it would be activated when someone came to close to the vehicle telling them to stay back. Disconnect the siren but you would have the chirp and additional effect of the surprise of the area sensors.

Don. I've used shrink boat wrap in years past to cover a dome. It worked very well but the heat gets trapped even with an A/C unit. The condensation builds. If we were to use it again we would use a breathable fabric because wrap needs to be anchored to the ground or it will be blown like mad.
