Re: End the Yellow Bike Program
Stripped goosenecks reveal themselves in many ways. She stopped hard and then BAM! You or I may have given that bike a pro quality safety check but not everybody knows what to look for.

End the Yellow Bike Program
It is time to end the idealistic Yellow Bike program. There are too many abuses. People are not only hiding them in camps but now they are stealing and re-painting them as personal transportation for the week. The MOOP report said 10% of yellow bikes were missing and 10% were disguised or repainted,...

Re: Bad Behaviour on the Playa
It's interesting to see all the outrage from the people who *aren't* actually staying later and doing all the work to clean up after everyone and restore the playa. I call bullshit. Anyone who picked up their 10 pieces of MOOP should be outraged. If you left Robot Heart with a bike basket full of f...

Re: Lack of Art this Year
There were some very cool interactive pieces. As a surfer, I loved the wave that some Burners from Santa Cruz built. Embrace was awesome from wherever you viewed it. The Library and The Circle of Doors (my name for it) were great interactive installations. The Playa is just so big today that it is p...

Re: Battery Powered Remote Bike Locator..... ?
Here is an idea. Have a tazer mounted into the seat with contacts mounted through the padding. Have the thing triggered by a motion detector that starts a delayed timer. All of this activated and disabled by a simple concealed switch. The thief gets a nice rolling start before, BAM! His nuts get zap...

Re: Bad Behaviour on the Playa
The only bad behavior I witnessed all week were camps that accepted dues from people and didn't deliver. "Sacred Zen Garden" comes to mind. Camps like this can actually put unprepared people in danger.

Cheers: • The crazy Canadian fitness model I found on a ride share board. When I said I didn't have a ticket, she said no problem. You were like a good luck charm. We ended up camping together and taking side trips on an 11 day adventure. You are the best of Burning Man. • The crazy French kids who ...

I found myself there quite by accident. It was packed by 5PM when I had to leave (no warm clothes.)
First decomp. Fun event but a lot more like an urban street fair then Black Rock City.

I have been unable to get any information on the condition of an accident scene I witnessed when I was departing. A Toyota RAV4 had rolled over. Does anybody have any info?

The exterior bars also hold a tarp with a nice air space to keep it cooler. Get an old area rug for the entrance and you have it made.

Re: Vintage Canvas Tents on playa
I have one just like the photo and it has been to burning man 8 times since 1999. It works great. Very roomy and sturdy. Seals up against the dust and can not blow over. I highly recommend a tent like that over a modern 2-wall dust catcher.

I took my 1995 van out there and it is much more corroded on the undercarriage now. It also stalls periodically. I think I could have avoided this by giving the undercarriage a vinegar wash before the trip and changing the air filter just after exodus with a fresh paper one.

Re: Keen Newport Open Shoes okay for Playa?!?
I have been to about 8 burns and have really grown to hate dust in that time. People who say they go bare foot or with open toed shoes could be leading you down a path to a miserable week. I recommed shoes or boots with heavy soles and socks. The uneven ground will tire out your feet with thin soled...

I did a partial transfer of a ticket order last year after the sell-out. There was a consent form, a letter from the seller and ID's required.

Re: Dear BMORG: Please publish who is getting the 10,000 tic
A lot of people who get selected to receive acccess to tickets are probablly the dedicated folks who come early and stay late setting up and cleaning up the city. I have to think that the people who complain about how tickets are being distributed have no idea how a temporality city is made for them...

Re: Removing Radical Inclusion
Radical inclusion my ass. Most of the proposed "solutions" to the fiasco by long time burners include some method of awarding tix to theme camps, long time burners, artists, etc. Everyone seems to have the attitude that they earned the right to be there, and that poor noobs certainly won't make for...

Re: New Blog - Ticket Update: Rebuilding Black Rock City 201
Does anyone really know of a lot of folks that are sitting on tickets? Seriously? The only folks I know who have tickets are redistributing them to their playa family. The few that are out there aren't hitting STEP. There are some rare high-minded burners with extra tickets that they are selling on...

STEP needs to be open to everyone, not just people who were skipped in the lottery.
Several people I know were caught off guard because they were waiting for the open sale.
It is what they were used to in prior years. Don't shut them out.

I support this decision 100%.
Theme camps are the heart and soul of Burning Man.
Call it entitlement of you want, but they need to be there or the whole event degenerates into a dusty tailgate party.

How to get a ticket.
I feel for you folks who don't have tickets but don't despair. Last year I was left without a ticket after the sellout and I can say with a degree of certainty that many of you will find a face-value ticket if you are patient and don;t mind the stress of waiting until the week or two before the even...

Re: Pay Gate Workers/Names on THIS YEAR'S tickets

Re: 2012 Theme Camps - will you make it this year?
I am part of a multi national theme camp with about 5 core members. Last year we were called "Freaks of Black Rock City." I helped to make sure that the main contributors each got a ticket by using the pre-sale to help beat the odds. I was left out in the cold last year after the sellout so I knew h...

Re: 2012 Theme Camps - will you make it this year?
People at the org need to find a way to allocate a portion of the remaining 10,000+ tickets to the people who make the event happen in the first place. If you are in a major camp, let your needs be known to the organizers and maybe something will happen. It should happen or else 2012 is going to suck.

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread
I first attended burning Man in 1999. In the mid 2000's took a long break for my work. When I returned to the Playa in 2008 I thought the whole event was a lot better. Why was it better? THEME CAMPS. Theme camps, official or not listed, are the heart and soul of Burning Man. The people behind these ...

I feel for all the broken camps and Burners who got passed over in the lottery. Last year I got caught in the horrible search for tickets after the sellout.
