Re: cooling your tent or van
Forgot to mention, that you can use the solar powered pumps..that's what I'm using. The trick with the pump/hosing is to get a even, generous application of water throughout the filter...otherwise the air will just take the easiest path through the dry stuff and the cooling effect will be minimal......

Re: cooling your tent or van
The tent fan is probably not going to be strong enough. Figjam already got me on that one. I tried a larger, similar cfm, yet less pressure/force fan and basically, it doesn't create the updraft in the cooler to really make the evaporator effective. Def go with the Figjam recommended as a minimum.

Re: cooling your tent or van
... I would love to build a bucket cooler for my tent. Last year, camping was great. Built a great shade structure, but when it came to the tent it was sweltering by morning, and being the light sleeper that I am... I was up every day at 8am having gone to bed at 4am/5am that morning. I was dead ti...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Thanks for the help FIGJAM! Ordered my new fans this morning. For those still looking for cooling pads (Duracool pads), try this place: http://www.ronshomeandhardware.com/3074-30x36-Duracool-Pad-p/888909.htm Their shipping is pretty $$$, but if you order today they can at least guarantee delivery ne...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Thanks for the replies everyone...and I forgot to throw my hat in the ring on the HUGE THANKS to FIGJAM for inspiring this journey! :) I suppose I'll go for just the standard 4" fan with higher CFM for the drawing and cooling power. I suppose it gets pretty lonely around camp at night anyway, and no...

Re: cooling your tent or van
Yeah, I was more interested in the positive pressure 24 hours a day for dust prevention...any cooling is bonus in my book. The yurts already keep it cool themselves until midday. You're right about the model. I might mount one up anyway and try a side by side with a closer to 200 cfm small fan...I w...

Re: cooling your tent or van
I'm doing this basic setup...I found 200mm fans that push 166 cfm at 0.7 A. It was only $15 at Fry's and had the 3 wire setup out of the box. I'm going to be powering this guy with a 105 AH deep cycle, and I also have this charging panel: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004FOEUI0 My question about...

Re: Material costs and links for DIY builds
Apox, Can you use a non deep-cycle battery if you are trickle charging it each day? I want to run all day on the system with pump and fan, but just fan at night...so I'm only going to run the pump off the solar panel, but I will plan on running the fan off of a battery. Can't think that fan will pul...
