Re: Tips for Shy People at Burning Man

My first thought when I saw this thread was, "Just grow a pair or have a few drinks. What's the big deal?" But then my empathetic side opened up a crack as I remembered the fact that I was way too shy to ask a girl out up until I was well into college my college years. So yeah, I've been there. Here...

Re: RV Dump & Water Resupply?

In case of dire emergency/missed opportunity, you can also pedal out to Fire & Services, where you will find a Help Desk and make an appointment (out past the outer road and 6:30).
By the time my rig needs dumping, it's pretty much a dire emergency. Thanks!

RV Dump & Water Resupply?

Last year, when I tried to flag down a water truck on the playa to have it come over and fill up the fresh water tank of my camper van, I was told that the trucks were only making deliveries to people who signed up in advance. I was able to get a truck to collect my gray water but again was told I c...

Re: Johnny Photon's Tips for Creating Wonderful Playa Photos

A couple of last minute tips: - If you don't have one, now's the time to pick up an extra battery for your DSLR. A week's a long time and your battery will be dead before you know it. The after-market (non Canon or Nikon) batteries are cheaper but I've found that they don't last very long. After a f...

Re: Digital SLR protection out on the Playa

Thanks BBadger for posting a link to my thread. :D I personally think that trying to protect your camera with some sort of housing or cover is silly. It just gets in the way of shooting. If you're conscious of the dust when you're shooting, put the camera away when the dust kicks up and then clean r...

Re: Please Don't Assault the Photographer!

I agree completely with the need to ask about shooting photos when the moment is private or nudity is involved - especially when they people are identifiable. I personally wouldn't photograph someone in the shower unless I had their permission. And if someone doesn't want their photo taken, no probl...

Johnny Photon's Tips for Creating Wonderful Playa Photos

Now, I may be lousy when it comes to Burning Man costumes, but I am pretty good at drinking to excess and taking photos that hopefully don't suck. I've been a professional photographer for years now - shooting everywhere from the jungles of Cambodia and Panama to the cobblestone streets of Italy and...

Re: Please Don't Assault the Photographer!

What a strange way to show your own photography! Cool imagery and narrative of unrelated violence and legal preaching. Is this a PSA, art project or ad campaign? I figured I'd include photos in my posts since photos are kinda like bacon - everything goes better with them. Not trying to be a legal p...

Please Don't Assault the Photographer!

I'm a professional photographer and fourth year burner. Each year, I go to the Press tent and register just like the rules say I must. I'm also very familiar with the rules and etiquette of photographing people out on the playa. I've been a photographer for 20 years now so I know the drill. In case ...
