I'm sure we'll meet up for a race - and I know you'll win with 3 pilots and bicycle tires, and a likely lighter machine.... Unless the sand is really deep!

I leave tomorrow morning. See ya'll there.

I remember that platform! Those Camp Herring guys had a chair on it and would ride up behind the water trucks and get showers!!

And yup, the 'ATB' is 100% pedal powered.

I've never been to LA before, and don't know anybody down there, BUT I have 'the All-Terrain Tiki Bar,' now with a tiki torch flame thrower, so we have that in common, as well as being BRC citizens. :D Elliot, you're up to the same old tricks I see! Hey, now I am offended! I'm going for some new tricks this year! One of them is a human-powered Tiki-Bar-looking thing! Yes, I stole your idea. It is simply too good not to use. At some point on the Playa, you will see yourself coming the other way...

Calling all large human-powered conveyances or mobile works of art (even if you just push it around) for a Kinetic Sculpture Rally meet-n-greet at the Silicon Village Plaza (Dart and 6:30) on Wed afternoon, 2-5 PT (playa time). We can have drinks and hear live music at the Hair of the Dog stage/bar,...

Yeah, already a religion... At my first burn I noted the similarities to another major world religion. Islam: people swirl in a circle in the desert around a black rock. Burning Man: people swirl in a circle in the black rock dessert around the burning man. Of course, the similarities stop there. Gr...

The Golden Cafe might be a good place for that. I also recommend Hair of the Dog (HOTD) as a place to see live music, and as an available stage for other acts. They have a drum set and PA. Just haul your water out. You hauled it in, what's the big deal? its full of pubes, dust, dish water chunks, and smells like rotting gray water I suppose but you can store it in a 50 gallon drum that seals up airtight. You could also pay JOTS to pump it out before you leave (they'll even rent you a...

Re: Scooters are motorized vehicles

I'd be all for categorizing motorized scooters/mopeds with other motorized vehicles, and requiring that they be registered transpo for handicapped people, or mutated enough to be considered art cars. Here here!! If it has a motor, mutant vehicle rules apply. Human powered, anything goes. Gravity Mike

If your gray water includes shower water, it will not be dust free. I've built a different gray water evap machine every year for 5 years running. They all have pros and cons. I've thought about pre-heating water for evaporation, as you're suggesting, but pumps and what not don't like the dust. Even...

Besides needing a stripper pole, as ibdave pointed out, your project could be construed as 'flame effects.' I'll look for it. You can get collapsable fiberglass flagpoles, but a bit expensive. I've been using cheaper ones, like giant fishing poles, from a company called 'jackite.' I hang lit paper lanterns from it, 28' feet high. It 'mostly' survives the high winds (elecronics don't, all else does). Gravi...
