Diesel Fuel in Gerlach?

This may sound like a stupid question, but I haven't really looked for fuel in Gerlach before. This year we have a large art vehicle and may need diesel fuel(depending on rate of consumption). Does Gerlach have a gas station with diesel fuel? If not, we'll have to plan for gas cans, but would really...

Burners in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles: Please Read On

Sorry for posting in this forum as well, but trying to get word out. My friends and I are finishing our art/mutant vehicle(MV). The majority of the work has been done in upper Wisconsin and we are preparing our drive cross country. We live in San Francisco and need to get the vehicle out there to do...

My friends and I are finishing our art/mutant vehicle(MV). The majority of the work has been done in upper Wisconsin and we are preparing our drive cross country. We live in San Francisco and need to get the vehicle out there to do our finishing work. But basically, it is playa ready and thought we ...

Max Wind Speed on the Playa?

I'm looking for the max wind speed on the playa. I'm building a major art car and need to do some engineering calculations with the max wind speed. Its pretty sad, I've been there 6 years and can't really guess the answer. I know the dust storms can be violent, but can't figure out what that calcula...

the joys of running a camp

Yo emotion! Just a couple quick words on running a camp. As you will find out, posts can be sometimes critical or harsh just because some people find that funny. I say this as I don't want to be critical or scare you off, I just want to help set your expectations. I've been running a theme camp for ...

items you forget

I have to go with Phil. Mixers! They are the special little key. Everyone brings too much alcohol, not enough mixers. I have had people offer entire bottles of Jack Daniels/Cuervo for a bottle of mixers. I gave up the mixer, I only requested a mixed drink with ice. They thought it a good trade. Seri...

finding events ... and then making it to them

I don't know about the rest of you, but I really don't understand events that start at, say, 3pm, 3am, etc. My playa watch only has sunset, sunrise, after, and before.

I think my watch might be broken!?! Just the way I like it!

the perfect safety net for your list

Personally, I fall victim with trilobyte. I have all these list for the theme camp and forget my own. But a couple things I have discovered over the years. One, don't over pack. Sure, if you have unusual bike tires, definitely bring tubes. If not, someone near by will have them. Forget a ladder for ...

A helpful trick

Know the location. If you are near 4:00 between 4:30, think of it as 4:10. So call it Bipolar and 4:10(using last year names). Then, if you think you may forget, write it on the back of your hand with a Sharpie. That may sound like a joke, but for those who may party toooooo much, the people who fin...

Stupid tip: but always seems to come in handy

For newbies and people who lose their minds: A black sharpie pen and the back of your hand. Honestly, I write the address and name of our camp on the back of their hand so when the get lost, they can remember where it is ... or at least have something to ask someone for direction. There is nothing w...

getting help

Jake, This shouldn't be much of a problem. Unfortunately our camp does not have its truck going this year, but what your asking won't require that much space. I noticed you haven't gotten any replies though. Try posting under a title like 'Need small amout of space in Ryder truck'. We have helped ou...

I think the idea has legs. Tuatha, the idea of speed chess is a great one. Keeping the time to under 10 seconds will keep the game moving. Choosing teams randomly at the beginning of the game will likely provide a person you don't know next to you. If someone can't find something to talk about for 5...

Where was I going?:GPS Project

First, a question to get this started. How long does it take for five kids with ADD to change a lightbulb? The answer: "Want to ride a bike?" If you don't get it right away, give it a minute. Burners, on the playa, do you ever feel like you never get to where you were going? Even better, have you fo...

Happy Hour Annoucements from Paradox Lounge

Welcome home everyone! Since our camp is a little slow as always, we have missed the deadline to publish our happy hours we are having. Here you are. Input wanted on the cost of water

I am try to price water for our theme camp. I don't know what I should be paying for water. Options include having the water delivered to our San Francisco location for transport or picking it up in Reno. 1. We are buying 300 gallons of water. What are people paying for this? 2. Where is the place i...

While I can't do the LA pickup, the Spain visit sounds interesting. That might have to be for b-man 2005.

Extra space in a 24' Ryder truck

Hey all, Our theme camp has a very large truck with a good portion empty. We are considering downsizing, but having trouble finding a smaller truck. Unfortunately we haven't raised enough funds to donate the space, but if there is another camp that would like to pitch in some for the space, we would...
