Re: Artery director or other playa art connoisseur?
The Arthropod Safe Space isn't listed anywhere - I checked! I'm pretty sure someone just brought it in.

Re: Artery director or other playa art connoisseur?
Oooo, I'll add my "searching for" art question to this list.
The "Arthropod Safe Space" near the 3:00 road to the man. It was the most charming piece I saw this year.

Re: Dear Budget Rental Truck Dude in Sparks
I'm surprised that they had such an exorbitant cleaning charge! It's a truck, not an RV.
We had to do a last minute UHaul rental, and it was quite pricey($1 per mile charge), but we returned it uncleaned from the playa and accepted their standard $30 cleaning charge(which they had also warned about).

Re: Sawdust moop question
I have an army of 12v cordless dewalts which handle 3"-4" drywall screws just fine. The 18v cordless drills do even better, and an impact driver pretty much make any physical work on your part negligible. We put together the frame for our 1st on playa art project with nails/narrow crown staples and ...

Re: Sawdust moop question
It's a bit more expensive, but I'd really suggest using screws wherever possible. You're probably going to hate sawing through all of your wood at the end of the week trying to take it down.

Re: night time mv?
I'd definitely love to know more about golf cart MV-ing too!
Bounce - We built our car on a flatbed pickup(originally a 88 GMC Sierra), and honestly...after crewing that for a week, all I wanted was a smaller car! But if you have pickup chassis questions...

Re: I want to make a mutant vehicle for BM
Thanks, Recoil! The Dusty Junk is super comfortable to ride around in, and is really chill(I declared an oontz music ban...you can't stand up to dance in the car anyway; the roof's really low.) I saw your car! It was really gorgeous lit up at night! I'm definitely making a "at capacity" sign next ye...

Oh, two more things- especially if as you said, you're not rich or know anything about automobiles -
Make your budget, and then triple it. If you come in under, it'll be a pleasant surprise.
Find someone to be your mechanic. Everything, even solidly running things, break on playa.

Re: I want to make a mutant vehicle for BM
The DMV was AWESOME. Their efficiency actually sort of floored me because we went in on Monday with a mostly complete car expecting to do the small finishing touches in line...and there was no line. "Go big OR go home" was our crew's motto this year(oh god, we just wanna go home). It took us 3 days,...

Re: Welding on playa
Our art car's welder brought his welder out and definitely came in useful to other camp members who needed bikes fixed, etc! He might actually have ended doing more, but we didn't actually go and retrieve the welder from his car until later in the week. He and I both own little Lincoln 140's, they'r...

Re: Georgie Boy Placement Sucked Ass
I loved Georgie Boy and it was probably one of my fave installations of the year.
I met Mister Jellyfish on Sunday when apparently someone had broken the button(probably a disgruntled noise complainer). THAT was pretty lame(the art being fucked up, not Jellyfish, who is awesome).
