Re: Do YOU bring an "i" device 2 the playa?

If you want to carry around an iPhone or iPod Touch or other "slab" electronic device, fully wrap it in plastic wrap, covering all ports, then cut away the part over the camera lens. You can use the touchscreen through the plastic wrap just fine. You run a serious risk of wrecking your device if you...

Re: Best make & model dust mask & goggles

HEY BURNERS What is the best type of LENS CLEANER for use on the playa? Anything that is NOT continually reusing the same lens cloth; the microfiber of the cloth will get impregnated with Playa dust, which will act as an abrasive. Baby wipes are good if the lens doesn't have a AR, mirror, or polari...

Re: help for bike tourists

first off know that eplaya is not the same as Burning Man. here, assclowns feel safe behind their computers and often fuck around instead of being helpful. dont let it get you down too much. :) second, ignore the naysayers, people have done this before. check out these threads from people who have ...

Re: Where to buy prescription goggles?

This is a question your optometrist should be able to answer. After all, they have your prescription, right? Your optometrist will have your prescription, and can tell you your pupilary distance (PD). Given those, you can order discount goggles online. It's something like $40 to buy them online at ...

Re: Best make & model dust mask & goggles

Note that for goggles, I will personally be going with prescription goggles from http://zennioptical.com/ for the second year in a row, unless someone suggests a great over-glasses option. I should have probably stated that in my original post. Still looking for favorite dust masks. Thanks everyone.

Re: Best make & model dust mask & goggles

geez, you sure are pushy when asking for help. you're overthinking this WAY too much. used ski goggles and a bandana work the best. I didn't mean to come off as pushy, just specific in what I was looking for...which is exactly not what you just replied with. Sorry. (And I've been to Burning Man bef...

Re: Where to buy prescription goggles?

http://www.zennioptical.com/ has three or four different models. You want the big ones that look like ski goggles. I have purchased from them many times (happy customer, no other relationship), and they are an outstanding product for the price -- your primary pair of designer glasses may be a bit be...

Best make & model dust mask & goggles

In today's Jack Rabbit Speaks, it states it may be an extremely dusty year. I'm interested in everyone's opinion on the best / ideal make and model of dustmask and goggles. Please do not state "just use search; this has been asked before!" -- there's no good answer available via search that I could ...

Exactly how many de-duped ticket requests were there?

Jack Rabbit Speaks did not answer it; I don't see the answer in this forum or anywhere else. After removing all the duplicate entries that the algorithm found (a probable small percentage of the overall duplicates, of course), how many total tickets were requested, from how many total credit cards? ...

Web server demand is a solved problem

Either I'm missing a very fundamental concept, or in the last few years, services have grown mature to completely solve the issue of huge spikes in website traffic / server load. Led by Amazon.com's EC2 ( http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/ ) , but including tons of other offerings, from companies like GoGri...
