tweaker dome or rave camp, tough choice there.
I'd have to go with tweaker dome since it looks cool from a mile away and they manage to contain their spracked-out mass of humanity and associated trash better.

I went out on tuesday morning to check out the burn scars on playa, the waffle either had burnt incredibly thoroughly or had already been mostly cleaned up. There was a layer of overlapping drywall sheets down covered with a small amount of ash and the playa underneath looked fine. I could have been...

You guys must be fucking idiots if you can't figure out how to get a swamp cooler to work in the desert. Oh look at that, I can troll too, isn't this a fun game? I post something sincere and positive, you post something jaded and negative, and you got a rise out of me, you score two points and win! ...

I don't know what you are talking about, I've used a swamp cooler for the past 2 years, I sleep till 4 in the afternoon, under a down quilt, with it blowing on my face, running off a solar panel. I wish I had it the other years too... I use about a gallon or two a day, taken from cooler water usuall...

swamp cooler filter material?
I'm building a couple of swamp coolers and looking for the best filter material, I'm well aware of that blue shit everyone uses and looking for something a little bit better. I've seen one filter that was a bunch of layers of some kind of foam, looked like expanded metal, in white that worked really...

At 8:30 AM... My friend left for work. ~Aimless (The horror. The horror.) That's pretty crazy. Reminds me of my favorite drive into BM though. My girlfriend and I left Bend OR around 10ish at night, drove the entire night under the large moon, through the desert to arrive right as the sun was peaki...

Hi, I used an auto(12v) swamp cooler powered from a 125watt solar panel last year, inside my hexayurt. It kept a localized area around the bed cool enough to sleep under our large warm quilt until at least 2 or 3 in the afternoon. We never slept in past that but I imagine it would work all day. I wo...

Louise and I have smallish quantities of grey water -- less than a gallon a day. You've got to be joking. I can think of about 10 different ways to dispose of a gallon of grey water a day with no work or money involved. Just putting a towel in a bucket and leaving the top half suspended in the air ...

Re: TSA=Terrifically Suspicious Assholes
I nearly shut down the airport recently, when I stupidly put one of those new-fangled LED-torch flashlites from Sharper Image in my carry-on. It`s a fucking flashlite! But because it looked different..... Weird, I carried 3 metal surefire flashlights with me to and from costa rica, they definatly g...

I'll bring it if someone else wants it, it's free to a good home, or even a bad one. Honestly it's not as bad as I say... It was just sort of a test run of my 3d geodesic modelling program to make sure the values it generates actually translate into something you can build in the real world. Unfortu...

Depends on what you mean by viable. As long as you maintained some degree of non-randomness you would end up with something that worked, but it wouldn't be pretty or easy to build. If it was truely random(probably impossible anyway, since humans don't think things like a random number generator spit...

'Custom' dome
This is what happens when you add scrap emt and the elliptical rho formula. This dome is so fucking custom I'm not even sure you could take it apart and put it back together without having to make more pieces. I've built a couple domes where I honestly tried to make them perfect, with 1/8th accuracy...

Tip for punching holes: find a used sheet metal punch. I used a roper whitney #7 and punched out all the holes for a 4v hemisphere in an hour with one other person. You can find them used for around 30 bucks, but make sure you get the die you need, i used 3/8. Also you can cut bundles of emt in a ba...

On the way home we had a little discussion about the tuna guys, and how much of stupendous bad-asses they are. Shortly there-after we were stopped and talking to one of the fellow burners on the way up to oregon, turns out he was one of the Tuna-Men in person. It is a small, fishy-smelling world aft...
