Re: Bungee ball alternative?

I just found this great guide from Suspended Animation on using Running Rigging. https://www.suspendedanimationcrew.com/docs/howToTieYourCampUp.pdf It's not as easy as it looks, especially if you want all four sides "gaps" to be the same width. Here's maybe the most important tip from the article: ...

Great dust proof 10x20 tent and two cots

Before you get too excited: the tent and cots are in Sacramento. Tent and cots were used 5 days at BurningMan. That's it! It's hard to find any tent other than expensive canvas ones that don't have "venting" mesh that does not have a way to be covered other than jury rigged methods that usually (wi...

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

Lag bolts are pretty rare, although many refer to lag screws as lag bolts. Here is a 1" x 12" lag bolt used for tree houses these days: lag bolt.png The "lag" name is really about the threads, which are obviously made for wood. Supposedly, the word "lag" comes from: from lag; the screw was originall...

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

This combo below works for me. Total cost about $25 and I actually use the breaker bar outside of the playa, unlike T-handle or speed wrench, which off the playa I only use for nuts or bolts that have already been "released" from the high torque they were tightened with. Most speed wrenchs only have...

Re: Showing a film on playa 2019

Common answer would be you bring a projector, generator, sound system, screen that won't blow around and chairs. or, look thru last years theme camps and see who is doing movies and contact them...they may be doing it again and might have a time slot available for you. Good luck ( I not trying to dis...

Re: Tandem bike thoughts & experiences

If you have space in your transport system, you might want to also bring a single bike with normal 26" x 2.4" or 2.5" tires. There will be times you will need it, as handling a tandem with no stoker behind is awkward and there might not be enough traction for soft spots which can be like talcum powd...

We all had single speeds with coaster brakes. The only other kind of bikes I ever saw were "English" bikes which had 3 speeds, thin tubes, thin tires and looked flimsy.

Re: Flat Top Shade Structure Guidance + Am I Missing Anything?

he first thing, I have read to use rebar pounded into the ground to secure the structure, but I am confused here. Do we just slip the poles over the rebar that's in the ground? Black Rock Hardware welds nuts onto the bottom of 1" 8foot conduit, used for upright posts. There is a hole in the conduit...

Hammocks on a conduit shade structure? No way. Forget it. Which brings up another aspect of the basic rules for conduit shade structures: "Walls" Not sure what you mean by walls vs. virtual walls,, but solid tarp should only be used for the roof. Mesh or camo for the sides. Seriously.... If you don'...

Re: Help with 36'X30' EMT conduit flat top shade structure

Try 7" bungees. Hard to find, but they're out there. For raising the roof, I've never seen it done any other way than in the link below. If it's too windy, wait until it isn't. Raising these flat roof structures should never be hurried and four people doing it is kinda a must when I raise my 12x20. ...

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

I am most worried about getting chains that fit correctly, so I am testing and acquiring the chain links locally. I believe we will need 1/2" chains, but we might be able to get away with smaller ones. Chain lengths are tried and true winners, but 3/4" mule tape works fine. Tested for the last two ...
