Re: I made a Lag Bolt Hand Crank Tool!

Very clever. I've tried a speed wrench with 18" lag screws and it was no fun at all. I ended up using a Horror Freight 25" breaker bar (not practical for the job as I angle my lags) for the last 6 inches, and thought "if only someone would make a speed wrench where diameter of the circle my hand wou...

Most every thread mentioning generators has a suggestion to keep it off the surface of the playa. Even if most of the air for the carburetor comes from vents on the side, these drain holes in the bottom (identified by zip ties) should make it clear one should keep the genny OFF THE PLAYA SURFACE. I'm trying to wrap my brain around how it would hold up to cut into triangles (then shark clip grommets and fit the triangle pieces into a dome) but am unsure if the edges on knit aluminet would hold that way. Re: Lag Bolts - zinc vs. Galvanized - also size recommendation

I've used the same 14" and 18" for years. Upon return, I let them soak in vinegar until I remember to finish the job, then powerwash them, then let them dry, wrap them in newspaper, put shrink wrap around the newspaper just to keep them together in groups of about 6 pieces. The zinc coating probably...

Thanks for the compression words.

I guess I just went cheap long ago as the pool noodles always seem too expensive. But, really, what is a few more bucks...the money spent after the ticket purchase is always much higher than the ticket...can't be helped! :D

Bring a bunch of pool noodles as they come in handy as shims for protecting corners and whatnot. I like the pipe insulation...cheap, pre-cut, the glue on it not the greatest, but it can stay stuck if under pressure. I bring extra as when packing up, it's great to have around. pipe insulation 2.JPG

In that magic year you get nice crumbly “bag of Doritos” type of Playa down ~ 12 inches. Be prepared and don’t overthink shit. I no longer use 14" lag screws but for the lightest of duties. Absolutely, but I noticed right away when living under a 12x20, the "feel" is just different and more pleasing. Maybe something golden ratio like.

Re: BRC sun/wind direction map?

As much as one wants to set up both for sun and wind, you may find yourself with NO CHOICE about putting your "housing" footprint as desired. Therefore, have shade for any side ready. Have your shade structure not dependent on ideal setup, and make that structure strong. If you have a tent with your...
