Re: Medical air evacuations

I got so fed up with whatever company BM was pushing a few years back....I used them twice, and twice requested a receipt for my purchase and an agreement of what service I paid for. Twice I got an email back saying that their computer can't do that and next year they could provide an invoice. Next ...

Re: Alumicloth - Verdict?

I'm trying to wrap my brain around how it would hold up to cut into triangles (then shark clip grommets and fit the triangle pieces into a dome) but am unsure if the edges on knit aluminet would hold that way. Likely sticking with the camo netting for this year, but starting to think on a winter pr...

Re: Lag Bolts - zinc vs. Galvanized - also size recommendation

I've used the same 14" and 18" for years. Upon return, I let them soak in vinegar until I remember to finish the job, then powerwash them, then let them dry, wrap them in newspaper, put shrink wrap around the newspaper just to keep them together in groups of about 6 pieces. The zinc coating probably...

Re: Preventing Bike Theft / Finding 'Lost' Bike Ideas

After the manburn one year, I searched for two hours looking for my bike. I came across others looking and we grouped together. We had great fun, everyone found their bike but stayed with the group, and then all bikes were found and we went our ways. Oh, lock the bike. If you give up trying to find ...

Thanks for the compression words.

I guess I just went cheap long ago as the pool noodles always seem too expensive. But, really, what is a few more bucks...the money spent after the ticket purchase is always much higher than the ticket...can't be helped! :D

Bring a bunch of pool noodles as they come in handy as shims for protecting corners and whatnot. I like the pipe insulation...cheap, pre-cut, the glue on it not the greatest, but it can stay stuck if under pressure. I bring extra as when packing up, it's great to have around. pipe insulation 2.JPG

Can anyone speak to personal experience with the more "Budget" friendly impact drivers for lagbolts *on playa*? Such as the $60 or less Ryobi, Black and Decker, or Harbor Fright drivers? Trying to keep a lid on expenses, as much as I'd love a fancy premium brand toolkit, can't justify it this year....

In that magic year you get nice crumbly “bag of Doritos” type of Playa down ~ 12 inches. Be prepared and don’t overthink shit. I no longer use 14" lag screws but for the lightest of duties. It is very disheartening to use the impact tool to drive a lag screw and it penetrates the first 12" with no ...

I've ordered from the Fastener Superstore for years, but thru amazon as the shipping is cheaper. Search

Absolutely, but I noticed right away when living under a 12x20, the "feel" is just different and more pleasing. Maybe something golden ratio like.

Re: BRC sun/wind direction map?

As much as one wants to set up both for sun and wind, you may find yourself with NO CHOICE about putting your "housing" footprint as desired. Therefore, have shade for any side ready. Have your shade structure not dependent on ideal setup, and make that structure strong. If you have a tent with your...

Forget feet. If your conduit is 1", get a 1 1/8" spade bit (or a 1 1/16" if you can find one) Get some 2x3 or 2x4 and cut correct number of "feet", each about 4" long. Drill holes about 3/4" deep.
