Gotta check out www.mchawking.com. My boyfriend brought home that cd a while before BM and I was laughing histerically by the 2nd or 3rd track... All my co-workers *know* by now how much of a Burnerd I am - we were completing my team's move from side of the building to the other and I was han...

I didn't exactly get lost, but I lost the people I was with for a while - one of the myriad of problems with being only 5'4". I got a bit turned around when we were leaving, but we finally found the exit. I absolutely loved the place, and I wish I had been in a better place mentally and physically w...

Imho, I hope BM stays on BLM land. The Black Rock / Slick Rock Emigrant Trails NCA needs the attention and money. Also the BLM and the controls they put in place help the ORG keep out the yahoos...I mean without the closure order what can a Rez do to keep people out that try to crash into the event...

Same here - when I found out it was a mechanical man I sorta felt the same way. But then I also felt a bit of relief to know that he wasn't going to end up in the medic tent, either...

I was high on nothing but life, and I figured the same thing. Out of the 7 days we were there, that was the only night at BM I actually delved into the world of psychedelics (shrooms), and to be honest I so paranoid about becoming too tripped out by sheer overstimulation that I was a bit apprehensi...

I definitely agree with keeping the shaved area dry, if you absolutely have to shave with a razor. It's sweat that seems to cause the most problems, because then the bacteria have a prime growing area. Sometimes I wonder if it's because in some people (like me) shaving causes the skin's healing proc...

Considering the <ahem> state of mind I was in the night I saw the burning bicycle man, I thought it was a real person with some sort of cool pyro-suit on...and I was completely at one with that "reality". My boyfriend's giggling at my exclamation of incredulity was not (as I came to find out several...

IMO, freedom of representation, freedom of speech, and the fact that we're parked on BLM land is reason enough for the LEOs to be present. It's federal land we're on and BM is therefore very much within their jurisdiction (legally, if not ideologically). If we want to be free of the feds, let's take...

My boyfriend. And spent hours riding the bus to Gerlach on different days, to check in.. But don't ever, EVER "check in" again. Definitely shouldn't need to check in - 2002 was my boyfriend's first year going to BM (I couldn't get the time off from my new job), and he pretty much told me, "I'm goin...

Didn't see any birds, but we saw a couple of bats - not those cute fuzzy little brown bats we have here in Oregon, but big brownish-black ones. It flew right through camp and at first I thought it was a bird until that "something's not quite right" lightbulb clicked on: it didn't fly at all like a b...

Since this was my first year at the Burn, I really didn't know what to expect in the way of food preparation. My boyfriend (who went last year) assured me that the heat and excitement made you not very hungry and that all you want to do is munch snacks and stuff, if at all. Bulls***!! We took 2 pack...

I had my hair cut about 3 weeks before BM - I had been trying to get an appointment with a friend's hairdresser for months (she's got a full client list already), and I finally cornered her and told her I *had* to get an appointment before August 24th because I was going to BM, she was like "You're....

Alkaline dust in lungs and up the nose = bad no matter how you look at it, radioactive or not. Look what it does to your skin and imagine your tender moist lungs being subjected to that (I still have "playa lung" in a minor way...hacking up dustballs). Wear a dust mask, wear a bandana over your face...

Yep - I learned the salt factor the hard way by becoming very dehydrated (not at BM, just personal everyday experience) and then discovering how verrrrry much better I felt when I caved into my craving for salty foods. Your body tells you what you need if you know what the signs are, but you have to...

What I've used for those nasty little ingrown hairs is Sally Hansen's Bikini Plus - it's got a mild antibiotic along with an antihistimine that works like a charm for me. Being a woman, I've been shaving my bikini area for a very long time and I've never been able develop a resistance to skin proble...
