Re: Volunteerism Decline Discussion

Wraith, I'm sorry to read your reply. If you enjoy anything at the event think about how it came to be. Streets being laid out, (and cleaned up afterwards), are made possible by volunteers. Art , music, and entertainment are not paid acts. Playa Info, Lost & Found, coffee at the cafe or even the ent...

Some of the cottons have faded a lot. I have polyester decorations that get washed every year and look like new.

2020 One thing a day for Burning Man

Now come on. I can't be the only person with a long list of things to do for next year. We decided that our table clothes were old and unsightly. This new one has 5 pockets and will keep everything nice and cool under it in the shade. The front, (facing the street), is pretty. Sorry about the double...

I guess you just have to pay close attention. I learned it from Savanah. I have 10 years doing it and no ill effects. There's a bigger risk of NOT sanitizing your dishes.

Re: Advice for what NOT to bring as a birgin tenter

Yes! Do bring those wipes. They also come in 'scrubby'. This is the most efficient way to wash your dishes. Then spray them with water, (letting it drip onto a towel), and you're done. No grey water.

Don't use them on your privates.

Re: Lost orange hat after Temple Burn

Run free little hat. I'm sorry you spent time at the Lost & Found trying to retrieve it. Take a look at the BM site and then let it go. We have all lost stuff that is dear to us. Someone is wearing that hat and enjoying it. Next year...new hat.

Re: My son wants an ATV

Nope. Not for a kid that age. Do you want to be a hero? Keep your kid out of the hospital. Take him to the go-cart place every week. (You'll find one.) If the kid next door got a 22 rifle would you buy one for your kid? Only if you live in the sticks. Use your head and your good judgement. Will you ...

Well, you can't pick it up in store. It's out of stock online. I use the same one and I'm very happy with it. I bought the big set of 5 or 6 tools for $200 at Christmas time. Perfect for around the home and garden.

Re: Does Radical Inclusion equal Racial Inclusion?

Nope, not everyone came to their first burn with friends. My first 7 burns were solo. The last 3 are a small camp we formed after years of on playa friendship. If you're looking to change the event with your actions, invite friends and family to join you. Educate them on the principals. Form a camp,...

Snowblind, Try looking at the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse. Telegraph Ave in Oakland. You may have to make several trips but it's a fun store. They usually have bolts of extra wide width. Cost...Somewhere between $1 and $4 a yard.

I'm super impressed. I have spandex that's 20 feet wide from commercial factory. I may have to try this at some event. Thanks for posting. Good job. If you screwed tennis balls to the top of each pole you could tie them to the fabric. It wouldn't completely prevent collapse unless you also secured t...

They mentioned you. I told them your address. (They had been over there on every street except yours looking for you.) Rob may have been the other guy in camp. The last day he got a hell of a sunburned face. Or stood too close to the fire.

So...A funny thing happened at the burn this year. I met Dammit Bill. Yes he is a real person. DB along with four others was camped across from us. With computers everything is slowly getting entered into the system. You can receive a notice that your license is revoked because of a forty year old incident. Even if it's on the opposite coast. No one can run away from a recent charge.

Doc, Thank you for clearing this up. Now the speculation and rumors can crawl back under a rock. I hope this won't influence future BDV. Bring back your art. It's enjoyed by many every year. Maybe additional signs are in order. Put a loud fire alarm on the pit. And motion activated cameras if someon...

Pretreat the stains, wash in detergent, Calgon, vinegar and bluing.

There were 2 big, beautiful, bio toilets at 'Burners without borders' camp. They were right in the area where presentations and activities were scheduled. Beautifully decorated and lit. The only problem i see is non-ADA compliant. No smell whatsoever.

Oh joy. Now we get to relive the week by pulling dusty equipment out of our vehicles. I set up a tent and toss it in. Each piece must be cleaned and stored. I lost a good thermos on the last night. Two chairs bit the dust. Otherwise, the aftermath is under control.

I saw eplaya faces at their camps all through the week but no one came. The crowd dwindles every year as FB becomes more popular. I whole hea...
