Re: The Bar 2017 Edition

Lucky, I can't wait. The 2 years that I've been on the Amtrakathon people have said, "See you at the bunny Burn". I figured it was time I checked it out. Of course the planning has gone ballistic. The voodoo lounge is too ambitious for me alone. I have 2 other events that will fit right in...

Re: The Bar 2017 Edition

Morning Peeps. It's a self-made whirlwind of activity. I better have a drink now. There won't be time next week. Monday I start training my replacement at work. Yippy! The Christmas Parade was a huge success. I loved the float making process. This morning I bought my ticket for a local event in Marc...

The Auburn Festival of Lights Parade was stunning.

Yes, it's over. The parade was Saturday night. Why am I posting it now??? Because the Sacramento burner community, (Burners R Us), plays a big part of the show. They work for a month or 2 transforming their MVs into Christmas themed vehicles. You know. The best decor, brightest lights and fanciest p...

Re: Compact Drill vs. Impact Driver for Lag Screws

I'm going to dig out all of my old battery op drivers and see if i can match them up with the battery of another new tool. That would be great.

Re: Compact Drill vs. Impact Driver for Lag Screws

Now I'm bummed. This article says I can't use an impact driver to drill holes or put in screws. (It actually says it's over kill but I get the picture. I KNOW I can't use an impact wrench because there is no way to attach a bit to it. This is way to involved. I laughed out loud when I was in Harbor ...

Re: Compact Drill vs. Impact Driver for Lag Screws

Well. Here i am at hd and just talked myself out of the impact wrench. I will buy an impact driver instead because my portable drills all have old batteries. I use a drill all year. The wrench just for bm. It almost had me.

Re: Stop posting so much

So the projects are piling up. Christmas floats for the parade. Census data entry. (Those wonderful books from the Census Lab.) The S.F. Christmas party. I still need to assemble the adult trike for my friend. Costume making for all the up coming events. The Amtrakathon is just around the corner. Th...

Re: Best layout for a camp of 2 people

I'll look into that. I love to keep the doors open at night. Capt. My 2012 Toyota van has exactly ONE keyhole. Drivers door only. Then I could climb in and open doors from the inside. Except the back hatch it only opens from the outside. There would be no way to lock or unlock it without juice. I ha...

Re: Best layout for a camp of 2 people

So...In 2016 my battery went dead. Of course I didn't know it till I turned the key. Just the 'door open' dash lights being on for 2 weeks is enough to drain a good battery. No. I can't pull a fuse. I can pull the battery cable but that's a whole other problem getting in and out with electronic door...

Re: Best layout for a camp of 2 people

I sleep with my back hatch open, (not every night or the battery would be dead). To hell with family and friends. If they don't like dust, don't get in my van. I cover the dash and seats with fleece. The cargo area is covered with carpet. Ok. It still looks dusty all year but I like it. If the wind ...

Re: Our Playa Homes

No. I didn't read it either. No, the shade structure and tent at the Burning Man event are not my home. I don't live in Black Rock City. No one does. I love the 2 weeks that I spend there. I work with my department all year here in the bay area. I 'do' burner stuff 365 days a year. Volunteering, cre...

Re: Best layout for a camp of 2 people

cmrabet, That is an excellent idea. (It's exactly what I do.) However, I have a carport instead of a monkey hut. I bring an ice chest for beer and fruit cups but no perishables. Check out the threads about food. Put up your tent and position some lightweight cloth over the vents. Every window and ve...

Veracity in bloom, Shade can be simple or ornate. (by the way, WELCOME to ePlaya.) Tarps come in all price ranges. Just stay away from the cheap blue ones. An 'easy up' will work if secured properly. No guarantees. Buy a costco car port Build something from bits and pieces. One year I got by with an...
