Re: Aussie virgin burner keen to get dusty!

Sibs, Welcome to ePlaya. There are a ton of Australian Burners. Entire camps of them. I suggest you sign up for the BM newsletter, (through the main BM site). Then start reading everything they have to offer. You can also research last years camps to find your locals. Get involved with the art and m...

Re: California Fires: Camp, Lost, Eden, Mountaineer, Woolsey, etc.

There are some beautiful and expensive old adobe homes in Walnut Creek and at least one 'packed earth' home that I know of. I wonder if they are fireproof. There is also one in Martinez that was built of something that looked like styrofoam blocks while they were erecting it. Nobody was ever allowed...

Shannon, Welcome to ePlaya. If you go to the BM site and sign up for the newsletter you'll be on top of everything. It's called Jack Rabbit Speaks. The best way to insure getting a ticket is to get involved before the burn. search out the local burner community. (We are truly everywhere.) Go to meet...

Re: Reasonable Honoraria Funding Request Vs. Total Budget

So great to be reaching out like this. Spacetime, How many people will be involved? (Or are you doing it all?) How early will you need to arrive for setup? Will your project be out in the open playa or in the burbs? Tomorrow's the Artumnal. It's going to be glorious. I can't wait.

Re: Reasonable Honoraria Funding Request Vs. Total Budget

Hi. Consider that the project will cost more than you anticipate. The grant is meant to be 'seed' money to get you started. If you have means, or think you can scrounge up some money on your own then ask for half. That's just my uninformed opinion.

Re: burner tattoo artist

Burner tattoos are great. Don't make a mistake by putting too much importance on the artist being a burner themself. Pick your tattoo artist by his talent. Don't rush. Shop around. See their work. Research what you want. Spend some time on it first. Good luck.

He was awsome? He didnt sing or play. I dont understand. He did a milly vanilly at the end. Those performers couldnt be the originals. They were youngsters. Maybe thats why they wore masks. We got drunk and picked out which one, 'we would do', anyway.

Re: Country Bman tour?

In Kansas McDonalds is a clothing store. There are probably a dozen books with the title Burning Man that have nothing to do with the event. Some of these predate the first burn. The borg. doesn't 'own' those words. I had the phone company refuse to hook up my service at my auto parts store. It was ...

Hey Marty! Great to hear from you. Here, have a sip off my flask. If I go to that volunteer xmas party I'll be on your arm. I know what you mean about seeing things in the rearview. I've given up some but picked up others. Luckily, life goes on.

Whew! That was 4 hours well spent. I got my after Halloween shopping done. Think I'll pour a wine. Anybody else? Our event at the next burn will be hats. I got fedoras, top hats and felt sombreros today. All for a quarter each. I go after each holiday. I must have several hundred by now. I'll bring ...

There is a big blank space

Under the header and above the toolbar, (with 'home' and 'quick links'), there is a large blank area. This is on both my pc and on my cell phone when I go to eplaya. This is new. There is also a line above the Burning Man header that says. [phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file [ROOT]/viewtopic.php on li...

Re: Theme Camp or Join?

Here is one way to do it. Find some friends and plan to camp together. Plan for everyone to be self sufficient if necessary. Have everyone participate in your 3 events. They can share in the preplaya prep work or expense. You don't need the www to be a hit. If it works out you can ask for placement ...

I think that goes for Hushville too. They always have a great location. We hate generators at Tiger Man Camp. All solar or batteries.

Fuck. Fuck. The heater won't go on. It's a floor heater that has NO electricity going to the thermostat. You have to be an old guy to understand a pilot generator. I guess I'll buy a thermostat before I go looking for an old repairman.

Re: Culture - Camps - Placement

I'm not crazy about villages either. I don't like all the outside services catering to the lazy or unprepared. Put placed camps on the Esplanade and leave some of the ABC for open camps. (It won't work anyway because the WAP users will land grab at 1 minute after the gates open.) This year Placement...
