Re: art setup/teardown volunteers

Cora Lean, You need to do a lot of research. Go to the Burning Man website and read. The event takes place at the end of August. This thread is talking about LAST YEARS Burning Man.

Hi, Welcome to ePlaya. To join a camp or not is a personal choice. How self reliant are you. I went by myself forever and love it. You certainly live close enough to bring everything including some shade. With a far bit of research you'll decide if you 'need' a camp or prefer to forge ahead and make...

Just stopping by for a quick glass of wine. WOW! Retirement is so tiring. It's all Burning Man. All the time. Meetings, events, new friends, parties. How do people get bored? All I wanted was my new shed and that hasn't happened yet. I'll just pour myself a glass of white to go. Later Tater...........

Hey Adam, welcome to ePlaya. You have plenty of time to read and prepare. That is half the fun. The event is an interactive equipment sport. Get creative with your creature comforts and sleeping arrangements. Search around on here using google. Not the eplaya search option. When you get stymied just...

Hello and welcome to ePlaya. Keep your eye on the Jack Rabbit Speaks newsletter. It will update you on important dates for sales and such. Read everything for newbies on the Burning Man site. Preparing is half the fun. See you in the dust.

CB Welcome to ePlaya. I admire anyone that makes a long trip to the desert. Living nearby we bring too much stuff. Living far away you struggle to bring necessities. Read everything you can. You'll hit on different ways to get yourself and a ton of equipment out to the playa.

Then start reading everything they have to offer. You can also research last years camps to find your locals. Get involved with the art and m...

Re: California Fires: Camp, Lost, Eden, Mountaineer, Woolsey, etc.

There are some beautiful and expensive old adobe homes in Walnut Creek and at least one 'packed earth' home that I know of. I wonder if they are fireproof. There is also one in Martinez that was built of something that looked like styrofoam blocks while they were erecting it. Nobody was ever allowed...

So great to be reaching out like this. Spacetime, How many people will be involved? (Or are you doing it all?) How early will you need to arrive for setup? Will your project be out in the open playa or in the burbs? Tomorrow's the Artumnal. It's going to be glorious. I can't wait.

Re: Reasonable Honoraria Funding Request Vs. Total Budget

Hi. Consider that the project will cost more than you anticipate. The grant is meant to be 'seed' money to get you started. If you have means, or think you can scrounge up some money on your own then ask for half. That's just my uninformed opinion.

Re: burner tattoo artist

Burner tattoos are great. Don't make a mistake by putting too much importance on the artist being a burner themself. Pick your tattoo artist by his talent. Don't rush. Shop around. See their work. Research what you want. Spend some time on it first. Good luck.

He was awsome? He didnt sing or play. I dont understand. He did a milly vanilly at the end. Those performers couldnt be the originals. They were youngsters. Maybe thats why they wore masks. We got drunk and picked out which one, 'we would do', anyway.
