Wouldn’t say hoarding or any large scale thing but I do collect heirlooms that preserve nutrition and flavor over yield.

Country living for me and my hogs.

Re: How to make Bacon.

I'm waiting for some pocalypse to hit our soybean crops since Monsanto has all but litigated away any biodiversity that crop ever had. That would be pretty significant when you think about how many things use soy. I fully support this agenda! It is inevitable and I’ll be ready! Your hoarding...

Re: Best layout for a camp of 2 people

If that mini-van is you main wheels in real life, where you drive friends and family, kids and colleagues around ... I’d nix the idea of sleeping in it. It will forever be full of Playa. Roll up the windows in Gerlach, unload it at the campsite, lock it for the duration. Do what the rest of the fol...

Continuing with the research...........

Bota Box Moscato is a very refreshing wine that would be great chilled & enjoyed during the heat of the day on Playa. Or elsewhere the other 51 weeks of the year.

Almost done unpacking (I'm doing it wrong). My carport is in pieces in my driveway.

TPBM is pondering the ratio of useful posts to drivel. Yes. Drivel is quite applicable here (guilty).

The tow bill was $1,350. I have Good Sam Road Service, at roughly $100 a year. They towed Millicent for "free" to the nearest town in the direction of my home ($900 for around 15 miles). And I paid $450 for the rest of the way to my house, around 45 miles. Good Sam Road Service is complet...

Hush box? Oh I thought this might be a solution to an annoying campmate... Carrion Oh, that would have come in handy this year. A small (depends on the head) hush box that can be secured around ones head. Not as drastic as the garbage bag & zip-ties that I was considering. I hereby commission F...

Time for an update! By now, most of us are unpacked, and we can start planning for 2018. And if you are going to convert a bus, you need all that time. In other news.... Millicent's engine may have reached the end of the line. Oil in the water. Could be only the oil cooler, but she may also need a ...

Heh, the killing is the easy part. That what the Ruger 10/22 was invented for. Gutting and cutting is what separates the men from the boys, and the craft of doing it right without tainting the meat is an art form. When the ‘pocalypse hits, get cozy with your local farmer and don’t say nothing ‘bout...

Can’t hear your A/C either :) Those sign waves do make a little more noise than a flat 12v but that's totally understandable (yeah, duh!). The mister we had set up in our carport provided all the cooling I needed and it did away with all the melted ice from my jockey box. Cool air & cold beer (...

I've been using an awesome hush box for the last few years. It's 2 x 100 W solar panels & some deep cycle batteries that surround the generator that I no longer have.

You can barely hear it.
