Re: dying a springbar :)
Awesome!, looking forward to seeing your pictures. Been wondering about this for a few years with my Springbar. Won't get to it this year I don't think, but will eventually! Just so much to test out, getting dye to work, figuring out what the heck to use with the green to get a color I want, working...

Hrm, I restarted browser and it had the link back:
To register for any of our ticket sales you need to have a completed Burner Profile.
Do you have a Burner Profile?
So I guess I wasn't registered lol.

Re: Pre-registration today, am I registered?
WHEN you register, IS there another step, like saying how many tickets or that you have a vehicle, or are there just the two "Pre-register" and "I already have a profile" links? I can get the page loaded, and every link I do have on that page, and there's no mention of being registered for anything,...

Pre-registration today, am I registered?
I got there on the minute (noon pst), clicked the register link, then the "I'm already registered with a burner profile" link It spun for quite a while (20 minutes?), now when I load the page the link to pre-register is gone, but there's no mention if I'm registered. Is there supposed to be, or just...

Re: bell tent or kodiak/springbar
Question for you Springbar owners:
I've heard the zipper doesn't cover the bottom of the door, but you can add one for something like $50. Should I DO this? Did you experience dust blowing through that gap and such?
Thanks!

Re: How about giving theme camps a certificate for tickets?
Agreed, my opinion is that camps, bands, art cars, art installations need to get SOME preferential treatment. Not that everyone hangs in these things, but they ARE a big part of what makes BRC. Otherwise you're just camping in a crappy desert. Sure, for a year or two you would still have cool people...

Re: How about giving theme camps a certificate for tickets?
Well, from the communique, for better or for worse looks like this is what BMORG is going to do in order to ensure brc has it's camps. You all had me rather curious what it would look like WITHOUT all the big projects/camps lol

@hotmess thanks for the tip on the portico as well. Did you try putting some sort of shadecloth over tent to sleep during the early day or anything?

Lol some vehement responses here on both sides. Feel free to be angry at me for voicing a thought, but this is just that, a thought, fear not I won't be instating this like some mad overlord lol. Re: How about giving theme camps a certificate for tickets?
Hmm, good points all. Liking this conversation. I'm sure my perception is colored by all the theme camps (art installations? whatever) complaining they're below base needed staff and won't be able to go/get their stuff there. Maybe some will still be able to go but don't have as much impetus to comm...

I love THIS from stubhub: When you'll get your tickets: Monday, August 20, 2012 So, someone's supposed to pay $700 a ticket and not know for SURE whether they got a ticket until 7 days before the event?? THAT's genius. really though, there are only what, 70 scalped tickets on there currently, and th...

Re: How about giving theme camps a certificate for tickets?
Yes, it's slightly exclusionary, but surely a limited certificate process isn't THAT far. I mean, the core workers get tickets, and no one would consider not getting THEM tickets. If only 30% of those that try out for tickets can go, and theme camps/ art installations don't tend to have 3x the amoun...

How about giving theme camps a certificate for tickets?
Just a thought. What if, during the burn, theme camps are given certificates for x amount of NONtransferrable tickets, tied to name and ID. That way your core participants are guaranteed tickets. I hesitate to be elitist in any way, but if a camp can't get it's members there, it will cease being a c...

Re: Official "Awarded Tickets" Thread
I don't know where but my Ms. says she read 70k tickets were requested in the lottery, if anyone has a real number from a real source that would be interesting. One thought keeps going through my head about this. Last year there were what, 55k that tried to buy tickets. This year, 10k went to presal...

It's official, we've gotten tickets so we're going yay!!! (NOT to lord it over the unlucky, just being happy here!) I don't know HOW they can best do it, I mean, there's a limit so SOMEOne's going to be excluded. First-come-first serve punishes the poor (or poor planner!), lottery's at least random....

Re: bell tent or kodiak/springbar
It's actually a one person 5-10 minute setup, you stake the bottom down, put the center pole in, then pull out the guy lines tight and stake them down. Really good point on battening it down in a hurry as well, yah, you CAN zipper the bottom on, but try doing that in a flash dust storm... As for dus...

Re: bell tent or kodiak/springbar
Good points on guy lines. The sturdiness in the wind apparently isn't any problem at all, they've been used in arctic conditions and other harsh environments for a century and a half. Also, the door just zips down like any door, so that shouldn't be bad. The footprint vs. inside useable space though...

Re: What are you going to sleep on in your tent?
Thermarest self inflating camping pad. Even the Ms. likes them and she's a total bed snob. You have to blow into the pad just a smidge after it self-inflates to get it just right, but you can have it as hard or soft as you want. Highly recommend. A bit expensive but they've already saved us on rebuy...

Re: Man Clothes
I'm no exhibitionist nor nudist in any real sense, but if it were warm and I weren't so respectful of other's preconceived notions, I wouldn't even WEAR clothes. As is, it would bother most people, so we're back to clothes. All clothes ARE costume. Some, utility costume, those nifty pockets in cargo...
