Re: Food/Drink: What worked - what didnt
Thanks, BrandX, aka Drawing a Blank. It was my pleasure. One other minor thing that had major usefulness - design core meals as vegetarian, meat on the side. Several vegetarians were elated they could eat my meals without the slutty, shameless pleasure that is bacon. Pity them for they know not what...

Freeze and vacuum seal everything - prepared foods, bread, buns, everything. Keep ice in 1 gallon ziploc bags until sufficient space for cut one-gallon jugs (From water supply). Save ice melt for showers, use ziploc ice for drinks. Five coolers, 12 days in the dust, less than a quart of melt in the ...

Re: BM ticketing partner account
I'm terribly sorry, 9ah, I should have shared the timeline - I attempted to register for the pre-sale on January 17 and worked the problem(s) through January 20; I simply didn't raise the issue in ePlaya until the other day. I can actually read and generally understand what I read. Heartfelt apologi...

Re: BM ticketing partner account
While I have no interest in signing up for pre-sale, I did in fact try to register for it, basically thinking to work out kinks now, rather than bug-hunting when it counts in the open sale. There's something I'm missing, because I can't even try to register for the pre-sale without the promo code. I...

Re: BM ticketing partner account
It's entirely possible I missed something, but I don't seem to have a promo code. I've had a Burning Man profile for a year now, have reviewed all e-mail related to creating my profile, and did not note a promo code. Do those of us with older profiles need to create a new one?

My camp stove will be there, ribs done around the start of the M&G. There's a grill that will hold maybe 6 sandwiches at one time - I can bring it along as well, if grilling is the problem.

Being on the wrong side of 50, set in my ways of thinking, you just can't go wrong with barf. If the TV news anchor can interrupt regularly scheduled programming to announce Prez Bush 1 "barfed" on the PM of Japan, that's good enough for me.

Re: ePlaya Meet and Greet 2013 - What are you doing?
Well, being costumically challenged, I suppose I'll have to come as myself. However, due diligence, pressure from daughter and just darn contrariness, I seem to have the rib smoker functioning reasonably well. So, I'll be spending the afternoon babysitting 6 racks of baby back ribs. Unfortunately, s...

As one who is afflicted with the aforementioned short-term memory uh what were we talking about? Oh, yeah, Tuesday Ice 3 9:00 - 12:00 shift. Check Costco - locally they have (Had) 2KW inverter generators for around $650. 4-stroke Yamaha engine, ~55dB so quiet with small loads, pretty fuel efficient, pretty light. I bought one, haven't tested it yet but likely will give it a run-through this weekend. I'm bringing it but I've already commi...

Read DrawingaBlank's crappy virgin guide. Twice.
Sweet talk Doc Pyro into posting his Newbie Primer. Read it thrice.
Maybe this year I'll actually take the advice.

Looks good, Illy Dilly. Cristina and I are both looking forward to another round at Ice 3. While you've put her in the right place (Greeter), I'm very flexible. Use me where you need me.
Maybe I should rephrase that . . .
Thanks for setting this up.

Not quite the same, IMO. Better than no ribs, but for something to bring to the M&G? Fresh off the grill or nothing. Well, maybe not nothing, but not ribs. Actually, I'm going to work on a method of slow-cooking and smoking them with the propane stove. Heck, I do it on the grill all the time, should...

Defend the ribs from those damn pirates from Tuna Camp. One taste turned into a complete rack consumed before I even headed to the M&G. Or more ribs, if I can figure out a good way to slow-cook them on the propane stove (The rusty wheels of my mind slowly creak into motion - fortunately I have some ...

That I didn't fully heed Doc Pyro's advice in the Newbie Primer: "There is only one thing on the playa that has any real value whatsoever and that is time. Time is very finite and when it is gone it can never be retrieved." While many of the things my daughter and I tried around our camp worked and ...

Melaniejane;
If you would, please create two more, one for me, one for my daughter. Mine a simple generic as I have no playa or nickname. If you could personalize hers with the name Little Bear, even better.
This is a wonderful idea, heartfelt appreciation.

Lightobject makes a small 12VDC pump, 57GPH, 10' head, 350mA or 4.2W. Slightly outside the 300mA spec but close. Not much more information available, so I'll buy one, see how it works in the cooler. Three 1L bottles of burgundy, two 750mL bottles of pink champagne, $2.99 each. Well on the way to a case of cheap red wine and cheap champagne.

Back to the issue of regulating 12VDC down to 6-7VDC - if you are handy with a soldering iron you can use an LM317 regulator with a couple of resistors and a small heat sink. Very straightforward if you have access to electronic components. Resistor size depends on desired output voltage. https://ww...

Perhaps I'm missing something critical, so pardon yet another silly question - why has no one mentioned an auto cover, at least for general automobiles (RV's, not so much). Cheap from JC Whitney or other sources, those I've bought locally can be secured via line or bungee cord under the vehicle. A n...

You may want to consider both the Arcitca links and the general volunteer link on ePlaya, to cover your bases. An...

A point, certainly, but would you invest heavily in the good stuff to create the stack of passed-out hippies for recycling?
And, after the second or third carafe, I've found no real difference between good wine and cheap wine.

Normally I'd do this privately, but I'll come out of the darkness a little to publicly comment on one Dr. Pyro. I took advantage of his offer of 2012 stickers on behalf of my daughter, the whole SASE business. She was very pleasantly surprised. As was I when my wife asked, "Who the heck is this Dr. ...
