Evaporative Refrigeration: Zeer
Just reading about a 5000 year old pub kept its food cold. Gee what a great idea for the Playa! A zeer is constructed by placing a clay pot within a larger clay pot with wet sand in between the pots and a wet cloth on top.[11] The device cools as the water evaporates, allowing refrigeration in hot, ...

Been using a Pentax K5 for 7 burns with no trouble. Just don't change lenses. There is always dust. Pentax is legendary for this. Obviously there are more up to date cameras and will bring one but will bring the Pentax in 2022. Just can't kill that beast. https://www.flickr.com/photos/eddaytona/albu...

Yup. Credit cards at Ice and Coffee. The future is catching up with them. Still nothing about Gars radio.

Couldn't find any info about Gate Info radio in the Survival Guide. Is it active this year?
Also, saw that coffee is accepting Visa and Master cards this year. True? How about ice?

Re: What means of transport would survive on the playa other than a bike?
Seems like you have less time to do stuff? We all do. It's not the bike, its FOMO. Actually, E-bikes are really great but you have to have a way to charge them. Otherwise, start building up your endurance at the change to Daylight Savings Time. Walk, bike, get out and park your car. Do a little for ...

Re: Jimmy rigging gas station air hose to become a blower?
If you are traveling back to LA on 395, here is a suggestion. When you get to Mojave, the Shell station/Subway store has a do-it-yourself car wash with really high ceiling next door. I stop and use it to rinse off the RV. Why not wash off the engine (carefully)? I'm sure there are plenty of reasons ...

Re: Tips and Tricks for RV's at Burning Man
What the others said but here are a few of our rules and tips. 1. No pooping in the RV 2. Water and grey water are complimentary concerns. Grey water tank capacity will be your biggest problem. We turn on the water pump until it pressurizes the system and find we can use that dose for many of our ne...

Didn't see it mentioned above. Don't forget if you are driving in you will also need a vehicle pass as well as tickets. Otherwise you'll be in for a nasty surprise. Just more money. Whew.

Top Ass Hats (in order) 1. Re: Reno airport stores?
To answer the question: There is a Cost-to-much-co less than two miles from the airport. There are a bunch of Wailmarts nearby too. The Wailmarts set up Burning Man sections and are very handy. Since they also allow our RV's to hang out in the parking lot, you might even find a ride. And!, they are ...

The same folks who do "Playa Compass", a great app that lets you backtrack to a location like where you parked your bike. GPS looks good and really simple. I was playing with it today and seems ok. Only bug I've found on my LG phone is it shuts down or something when I go to another app. Thanks for ...

Re: lawn chairs, lounge chairs, do they blow away....
Never had a lawn chair go but I've had a dust devil blow through camp and bent the heavy duty legs of a large shade structure. Guy wires kept it from going airborne. Last year was particularly windy. We had a heavy 15" dj speaker on our flatbed. The wind blew it from the front to the back and onto t...

Got my fireballs about 10 days ago. One in the pack with tix and the other separately in a VP package. My mail dude knows to look for for it each year and hand delivered to our apartment door. Love the USPS!

Re: Exp. RVers: Suggestions for House rules for renting an R
For us it's all about gray and black water limiting. We have plenty of fresh in the tank and a bunch in 2.5 gallon jugs. But since we are on Playa for 10 days our tanks can almost overflow by the end. A moop disaster if that happens. One can not count on a well timed pumper truck to save your leakin...

2015: My wife was in charge of "software". You know, like blankets and pillows and sheets. Being the nice guy that I am, I apparently wanted to help her pack our vehicle and took them down to load.
