Patch from 2011?
Hi folks - if anyone has an extra square patch from 2011, I'd love one. I have all the past years I've been to sewn on a coat, but somehow missed getting on this year. I have some cool metal dogtags I made...

Re: What do you think about selling "schwag?"
This one is pretty funny - an "all access" pass to 2011 that is a complete fake. Probably violates all sorts of bmorg copyrights. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BURNING-MAN-vip ... 336b48ee82

Goggles and Dust Mask
Finally finally had a reliable cool looking working duo of goggles and dust mask!! These were necessary survival gear the first two days of the week this year, when the dust was really blowing. The goggles were from Etsy, from a burner named JadedMinx. They were about $30 or so, with round lenses, a...

Hey, if anyone has an extra square patch from 2011 Rites of Passage, I would love to put it on my jacket. I have ones from all past years, but somehow one didn't materialize this year. I've got some cool dogtags...

Quote: "A notable virgin spent her time before the burn reading everything she could online and compiling her own W/W/W." I actually did that too. And still couldn't find most of them, as the WHEREs were often not available until you got to the playa, and even then many smaller camps were not on the...

We have a burning baby girl, who just turned two, and a nine year old boy. We've been debating taking the kids, and so far have not. This year, we went alone to have some time to ourselves, which was lovely. But next year might possibly be the year I bring my son. He really wants to go, and has aske...

Regarding art car fumes and rudeness: Anti-M said: "We went back to camp and had sex instead." Generally an excellent plan! But isn't there some way of differentiating between fundraising for genuine work of art cars (behaviour aside), and naked golf carts (of which I saw quite a few). P.S. While we...

"Schmockdickheads"
It is interesting to me that even enlightened folks I know think that "you can make a killing selling xxx at BM". I showed a friend the schwag I was bringing (dog tags I had designed with the man sprouting leaves out of his arms), and she thought that was how I was funding my trip. I tried to explai...

First gift: The playa gods saw fit to put a man carrying a banjo in my path in 2004 (at 4th & E). I asked him to play me a song. We now live together and have a little girl, our burning baby Brigid. I am mostly enormously grateful. Second gift: Me and my boyfriend (banjoman) come back in 2007, in ou...

I didn't know about this man's death until after the burn, but my heart goes out to him, as well as to the people who he affected. My brother committed suicide some years ago, and I was left to deal with the physical and emotional horror. After the initial rage and anger, I finally realized that he ...

Department of Disinformation?
Is it possible that this is a hack? A stunt by the DOD? If so, it's f**king brilliant, and I applaud. If not, if they are really serious about this, I'm thinking of some camps like "Forty Acres and a Mule" Camp, or Camp Manzanar, or since I'm part Native American, Camp Wounded Knee (fire water, casi...

Double Rainbow
I agree with TPG - no matter if there was a sea change this year, more corporate camps with assistants running back to civilization for more caviar, and the green exhibits had no sense of humor or irony. We nonetheless had an amazing time. And Nature regaled us with all her best, dust storms to rock...

rainforest recycle
I think the idea is not live plants, but papier mache or stuff that would burn leaving no moop. wood, paint, papier mache leaves/animals, some misters and shade and seats, just a small oasis in the desert. Haven't done anything formal like register yet, but if anyone wants to collaborate, lemme know...

I'm a jeweler, and made some cool stuff for Christmas that were like old silver coins. I melted my scrap metal into small lumps, then hammered and put through a roller to make relatively round flat lumps. Then you can leave the edges rough (looks kinda cool - like old pieces of eight), or "coin" the...

BM = behavioral modification! Gordo, "I would be totally unaware of what was going on in my head, except that it was YOUR fault" is a brilliantly succinct way of putting one of the wonderful things about the steps! We have a one year old, nicknamed Blaze as we met at BM two years ago. Walking down the sidewalk with my dog, wanting to see someone in particular, not sure where to find them. Asked for a sign, which way to turn. Picked up scrap of ripped up paper on ground (still on moop patrol), which had remains of sentence printed on it saying ..."Go Home!" Following this clear di...
