I don't remember which day of the week it was, but they had an "Acceptable to have an erection in public day" a few years back.

Re: Tutu Tuesday - It's Happening

I see nothing harmful with embracing a small sliver of solidarity for a very brief spell just for the novelty of it. It will be one single voice of 30,000 men and women wearing tutus with fists raised against the oppressive monolith of global cultural conformity. Then we'll look at each other and la...

Re: Tutu Tuesday - It's Happening

They're getting pretty serious about Tutu Tuesday Who is this "they", and why are "they" getting serious about making others into conformists? I've never understood how being different in exactly the same way thousands of other people are being different, on the same day and in the same place, actu...

Propane lanterns work nice if you have the space to transport them. I carry an extra glass globe spray painted with colored, high temp engine paint for that festive look.

If you bring her and treat her with the same respect and the same amount of attention that you'd want her to give you, and you end up disappointed that she cannot tolerate your burner lifestyle, then it's better to find out earlier than later. If you leave her at home, and she jumps all over your ca...

Re: salad bowl shade cloth

The one bummer I see with that is the pole going down the middle unless it's a stripper pole or something. Maybe a few of those inverted salad bowls mounted to the dome and stretch aluminet over that would work to pre-shade your parachute dome fabric.

They're getting pretty serious about Tutu Tuesday. If you're the type of person who would wear a tutu, bring one. If you're the type who would not wear one, bring one to loan to a friend.

If anybody didn't have to buy tickets, then nobody would buy them. The resulting lack of funds would probably make the event suck. I advise to save up and buy a ticket next year.

Thank you for that Knowmad. Please do stop by Orphan/Endorphin Camp at dusk for some live folk music and cold beer on tap. You'll recognize me, red hair, pony tail, always wearing a cap or hat.

While things will never be perfect, if you notice, there are only two threads on the first page of Active Topics that concern tickets. They got exodus right last year, and they got ticket sales right this year.

Re: Plug & Ply 2013 - a scaled down p&p experience

The big plug and play camps don't beat around the bush when it comes to pricing. Why should an entity such as Plug & Ply (Scaled Down) do differently when offering these same services to the common people at an affordable price?

Dear Elliot, I am sorry to pepper you with so many questions, but there is so much to learn. At first glance, my next question might seem simple, but if you really think about it, it gets a bit tricky when you factor in the differences in size and weight in U.S. vs European wheels and other variable...

Re: Ask Elliot

Dear Elliot,

Do you think the summer rains that have fallen on the Black Rock Desert will affect the PH balance of the playa surface? Also, do you have any useful strategies on how to protect our shoes and feet from mud and water at Burning Man this year?

Re: Plug & Ply 2013 - a scaled down p&p experience

But truthfully, this is more than just a troll. I suspect that if given the chance, the plug & play culture can and will grow much more effortlessly than the ethos of radical self-reliance. It's like the cell phones were. It was fine when the doctors and investment brokers were talking on their phon...

Re: Radical Self-reliance

The trick to being radically self reliant is to actually be self reliant as in being able to survive independently. This goes past material possessions. We ask all the members of our camp to be able to survive on the playa even if they are not able to find our camp or if they have to move from the c...

Plug & Ply 2013 - a scaled down p&p experience

Although I have set grand plans for 2014 with Plug and Ply, I am anxious to get the camp off the ground for 2013. We obviously do not have the time or resources to assemble a full scale plug & play camp, so I'm thinking out of the box. What I have in mind is to sell camp memberships on a per day bas...

I was surprised last year to see license plates placed on bicycles mounted to trunk racks with special white LED lights pointed at them. I've never seen anybody go to such extremes anywhere else. Navigating the law enforcement gauntlet into Burning Man is a situation like nowhere else in this country.
