When I was gluing mine with HH66 I noticed the acetone in the glue was removing the paint. I think you are on to something.

Re: Paint for Billboard Vinyl
My dome is also covered with white billboard vinyl. I use a cheap tent light (ring of 12 leds) I have it hanging from an eye bolt connecting the apex of the top Pentagon. The light reflects great off the curved white surface. Lights my whole dome (16 dia 5/8 3 V) ceiling is 9 or 10 feet tall. The li...

Re: How to build an EMT conduit sphere?
Build a 3/8 3V and a 5/8 3V 16' radius domes. This gives you approx 3' struts out of 1" EMT. Bolt them together for an 8/8 geodesic ball.

Re: Reflective dome covering methods and materials
I had a swamp cooled dome in the AEZ last year. I use white billboard vinyl cut into triangles and then glued with hh66 vinyl glue . I had a 25 gallon swamp cooler and it works good but am going with 2 - 25 gallon swampies this year.

Donate your stuff to Karma Collectors. They will have a truck at exodus and will then donate your unwanted gear to the homeless in Reno. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Karma-Co ... 5725779899

@ kstlfido The pad is 2 inches over each vent not sure much if any air is creeping past but not a bad idea to be extra safe. Also yes I will be installing door weatherseal foam around the CB fan and the lid.

Re: cooling your tent or van
The trash can is 50 gallons but I have the fan and vents lower so it will line up with the dome. I'm getting 25 useable gallons which seems fine. I ran the same basic design last year and it cooled my 18 dia 5/8 3v dome very well. I also originally worried the black plastic may cause slight issues b...

Ive been thinking the same thing. My thought was 5 eyebolts following the vertices of the top pentagon would equally distribute the anchor points.

My dome is covered with a used billboard. Turn the graphics inward and you get a nice strong white cover for cheap. I paid 25 dollars for a 14X48' billboard here in Reno.

Re: Dome Calculations...
Your numbers are spot on, but I'd suggest you round them to 1/8s. There is no reason to be that accurate with a dome radius of 142.70. Mine was somewhere in the 108 range and my holes got off by up to 3/16 and never became critical. Your bends @ 10 and 12 degrees are not critical either, just get cl...

So the BORG has only suspended the 2 guest passes due to numerous abuses, not the 60 dollar tickets to tribal members? How is this bad for the tribe? How is this a shame or outrageous?

I'd assume bLOWES.COM would have these available to preorder, also I live in Fernley which is the gate way to the playa from the Reno area. Your group is welcome to construct in my driveway which is approx. 3 miles from bLowes where you would pick up your provisions.

Re: Geodesic Dome Construction (Tips and Tricks)
Ok its 2012 my 9th burn and have finally decided to build a dome. Great info here between all the users and links and I thank you all who have contributed over the years. I've decided on a 2v 16'8" diameter geodesic. According to the dome calc. It gives me 63.5" and 56.5" struts which leaves absolut...
