Root Society was right on Esplanade and 10. GREAT place! But I don't remember any signs of "flower of life". That sounds a lot more like it could be "House of Lotus" which was about a block or two off of Esplanade on 10. Root Society was a big dome with a chill dome off the back. Lotus had an outdoo...

I liked stalker camp. Simple but really cool idea. I signed up to stalk a few people and had a blast. Followed on guy on his art car all the way across the playa to a wedding at the temple and asked him why he didn't call me anymore, left creepy notes for people. It's fun to be creepy...restraining ...

ditto... Sorry to the guy who stopped to thank me for doing moop duty and told me he had more "moop" for me as he dug into his backpack. I gritted my teeth and told him to please take his moop back to his own camp...but he was actually trying to give me a gift. It was a really cool lighter. Sorry to...

I don't know what happens if you are cited on the playa but I was arrested on the way out of bm last year in Shurtz and sent to mineral county jail. My charge of "illegal use of a controlled substance" was later "dismissed without prejudice" due to lack of evidence (the "official" lab drug test came...

I respect where you are coming from. I guess I don’t have as much faith in the community as I would like to. Not, at least, enough to trust them with my children (if I had them). Let’s face it, this is the same community whose members: stole my bike, groped me without invite, followed your sister ho...

Yojessimac, we saw that too and were equally disturbed. This is a true example of selfishness and poor parenting. If it is so important to a parent to party it up, leave the children at home. Some people just do not have the self restraint and good judgement to protect their children. It really make...

Kids at BM...the ongoing battle
I thought I had seen a recent post on this but I couldn't find it. There has been ongoing drama and debate about kids at burning man. This year was no less volatile. I think most people do agree that if kids are included then parenting is the key factor to making it a safe and valuable experience. T...

I have to say that 2006 has been the best potty year so far. It seems like the lineups were smaller and the potties never got as full or dirty as previous years. Were there more this year? More frequent cleaning? Great job to JOTS and everyone for keeping them so nice! Sadly, by the weekend there wa...

Sorry for barking Isotopia. I guess I'm just not aware of what these mechanisms are, and from the sounds of things a lot of people feel the same. Who would one talk to? And again, if I did complain and finangle some space I don't know how pleasant it would be to be neighbors for a week with these fo...

"The problem with hording is that not enough people experiencing getting pushed around bother to notify the Rangers or Camp Placement." Wow, so are you saying that the problem is my fault for not complaining? Who am I to say that it is not within the right of these camps to rope off these areas...an...

I have noticed this hoarding of real estate getting worse each year. People mark off huge amounts of space that are still sitting empty by Friday. I find it totally out of the spirit and disheartening. This year we arrived on Monday and still couldn't find a roadside spot inside of Guess big enough ...

Met you three at the "swingers not cheaters" club on Thurs. Engineers from the bay area. Wished I had gotten your contact info.

Seems like a bad year for bike "thefts". For the first time our bikes (2 matching decorated mtn. bikes) were snagged from in front of a theme camp on Esplanade at night. No locks, no "I belong here" tags. Our loss. Must have been a good Karma year too though...our friends spotted them the next morni...

Yes but don't count on it. Not all police officers play by the rules...and in he end it doesn't always matter if they did or not, or if you know your rights. We were pulled over in the Walker River Paiute reservation. They fabricated a reason to pull us over. They removed us from our vehicle and "we...

A lot of people are worried about bringing their cars to the playa. We drive every year and have never had a problem. The dust gets in everything, yes, but it's fun to watch the carwash guys trying to get it off (it's like a magic invisible marker...it looks clean but when it dries it comes back). P...

Warning – Burners profiled by tribal police
Please, if you are driving northwest on 95 through the Walker River Indian Reservation, read this story. Last year on our way home we were stopped for “crossing over the yellow line” on the res. Our truck was searched because the officer said we did not pull over right away. They were very direct th...

We have done it with great intentions, sober and armed with super-coffees. We pack up camp and clean up before the burn and head out right after. There is a small exodus at the gate. 30 minutes down the highway we always seem to get really, really tired. That stretch is hard because you really can't...

Easy and somewhat healthy snacks...in that heat it's hard to find something savory without busting out camp stove and making a mess or eating those sodium heavy convenience foods. We bring a lot of fruit and pre-made frozen stuff for dinner (doubles as ice for a few days) but we found that getting e...

First off, thanks for hosting that show. I'm still speechless. Not only were the performances erotic but the techniques were varied and nothing short of spectacular. I just recently bought Brain's book, This Is Burning Man. I'm about mid-way through and I think it's excellent. I think it captures the spirit of Burning Man without being preachy, flashy or over-analytical. True, the best novel is the collection of experiences in each of our heads, but that doesn't...
