Re: Platform for DJ Booth - suggestions please

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! no, but, I did just save a lot of money by switching to Geico. A pallet lying flat on the ground is about 5", so 4 stacked would be about 20". I would love to have it taller but that's too many pallets to worry about. With a deck on the other hand, I could go taller. ...

Re: Platform for DJ Booth - suggestions please

If you *were* a carpenter, you would have provided the Dear Readers of the eplaya with a few more details, eg how much taller you want to be than God --- God being the Space Cowboys. You are so right. I'm must not be a carpenter and I'm taking our campmates to the back of the line. Thank you so muc...

Re: Platform for DJ Booth - suggestions please

I am a carpenter, and I do it for a living. I'm just trying to cut costs wherever I can since I'm already in it way over my budget. Pallets are free!

Re: Platform for DJ Booth - suggestions please

Plan B is to use the back of a truck covered in plastic. We'll be at 4:30. All of our DJ's are from a small island in Indonesia and are no taller than 2', so that shouldn't be a problem. They make good chocolate too...

Re: Platform for DJ Booth - suggestions please

Yeah the more I thought about it pallets seem like not the best option. They are great for the backyard though! I think a deck is a better idea and we've plenty of campmates to help with it. 2x6's are better. Time is running out. I'm glad to hear that bigger things were built in less time... This HA...

Re: Platform for DJ Booth - suggestions please

Yeah that sounds like a better idea. 2x4 framing with plywood for the floor. That would take up less shipping space. It would be a lot more work involved though. Would need plenty of helping hands!

Platform for DJ Booth - suggestions please

I'm building a variation of the H13 Hexayurt for a DJ booth and we would like for it to sit on a raised platform. The easiest solution I've come up with is to create a platform out of pallets. The H13 is close to 16x18' at the floor, so this would require using quite a few pallets. We want it to be ...

Well that sounds like a good idea but the 3/4" panels here are $19 and not sure about the 1/2" ones, but I'm sure they are more than $8. Unless I can find a cheaper supplier...

Re: HexaYurts

Vinay said that 3/4" panels should work particularly well for 6' stretch yurts, and maybe using a roof pole. I did however find a supplier close by that sells 1" @ $27 a pop. Seems kind of expensive. I'm wondering if I should try the 3/4" panels. We will be building an H12 to accommod...

Re: HexaYurts

I like the idea of making an x pattern from plywood to support the panels. But I'm also wondering if 3/4" is thick enough to stay cool on the playa. I will PM Vinay to see what he thinks.

Re: HexaYurts

We do have a Lowes also but you have to order the whole bundle from them as well. I thought about doubling the panels but that would cost twice as much. Do you think a plywood backing would be a bad idea? I already have quite a few sheets of waferboard in the garage.

Re: HexaYurts

Home Depots in Dallas are only carrying 3/4" thick Rmax R-matte, which is too flimsy. They can special order Thermasheath 1" and 1 1/2" thick, but you have to buy the whole bundle. Not an option for me. So I was thinking of getting the 3/4" thick stuff and glue them to some thin ...

Outbox will not clear

I've sent a PM and it seems to be stuck in the outbox. I tried sending it twice. I'd like for the recipient to read it soon. It's been about a half hour. I don't know what else to say.

Re: If you try for a low income ticket...

Exactly. We put a few bills on 'hold' for the main lotto. This created a bit of a financial burden, however we felt it was worth it. What I'm saying is, I'd be willing to do it again for the last sale, if I was denied the low income ticket. But because you won't know until six weeks after the low in...

If you try for a low income ticket...

you have to wait 6 weeks to find out if you will get one. This falls after the secondary sale. So my question is, after applying for a low income ticket, can you also try for the secondary sale? Some people that qualify for the low income ticket might want one so damned bad they might put a few bill...

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread

We received the reject notice a couple of hours ago. We were positive and excited since we registered for 2 tickets (one each). This has been the longest, most drawn-out disappointment imaginable. It's hard to stay positive about STEP or the secondary sale, since the same fucking thing will probably...

True.. but fortunately that's not the case. You can stand in any one spot in the city streets and here 5 different music sources at one time. One question: Have you actually been to TTITD before? Just wondering. Not trying to be a jerk. :) No, this will be our first. We've been to regionals though,...

I don't give a fuck about my own music. That's what I listen to the other 51 weeks. I thought I'd start a thread on what music you will bring to this years event. It could be a good way to discover new things! Thanks. Anyone know what I should do about not getting updates? I'm missing 8 issues. I tried putting a slice of bacon in my cd tray for good measure but all the good that did was turn my laptop into a mutant car.

What is the latest JRS Volume / Issue?

The last one I've received was bman-announce Digest, Vol 67, Issue 2. I even checked the spam folder and I think I've missed one or two. Can't find the last one that everyone is currently talking about. :?
