Re: Virgin from Olympia/Seattle!
Hello Evan! We also hail from the lovely state of WA and last year was our first year. Happy to share any info I have with you:-) We joined an established theme camp last year and brought our own MV to the playa even as virgins and had the time of our lives! This year we are forming our own NW based...

Re: challenging "the Temple"
Last year was my first burn and I went to the temple at least 5 times. It was so beautiful and very moving for me and my whole family. We lost my dad this year we said a very special goodbye to him there that was incredibly emotional for us all, strangely much more so than his actual memorial here. ...

Re: How safe is burning man?
One of our campmates was drugged when someone on an art car filled her water bottle on the open playa. She really does not know what happened to her between then and when some wonderful guys at a theme camp along the esplanade found her stumbling around and brought her to medical where she had to be...

Re: Alright, let's hear the best and worst from 2012
I am not sure that this was the best or the worst for me but it was slightly more weird than anything else we experienced......we were out on the open playa with our little MV and we were offering to spray anyone out there with our garden mister and this guy, probably 40ish rode his bike right up to...

Re: 2012 Fundraiser Scorecard
I donated to 6 different kickstarter projects. The projects turned out OK as far as I know although some of them I did not see and have really no idea. Not one of them delivered on the shwag they promised (although that is not why I donated) but I do think you should not offer gifts if you are not g...

Re: So, what the fuck qualifies as a mutant vehicle?
We were virgins this year and brought our MV to the playa. It was a pretty simple design but we had no issues at DMV and the hotties that dealt with us said it was great that we were virgins and brought a vehicle that looked like the drawing I had submitted in the permit process so that made us feel...

Re: Headlights?
Headlights were not required by DMV hotties and there were no stops by leo's without them on our MV. I specifically asked the DMV hotties when I got my MV permitted if headlights and tail lights were required and the answer was NO.

Re: Folding Tricycles on the Playa
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I'm now leaning towards the Westport model (http://www.amazon.com/Westport-42078-Adult-Folding-Tricycle/dp/B000Z89JFO) due to numerous bad reviews that mention the Worksman shipping with missing parts. As far as I can tell, the Westport doesn't come in a three spe...

Re: Headlights?
Our MV has the original headlights and tail lights of the vehicle so I am not worried but for a first time MV owner the "written" rules are a bit vague nonetheless and I could see plenty of first timers MV's arriving without specific head and tail lights because it is not exactly clear what is expec...

Re: Headlights?
Actually the criteria for MV lighting is a bit vague on the faq page. Lighting For vehicles seeking a night license, basic requirements must be met: The rear, front AND sides must be lit. All vehicle extremities must be lit. Any trailer hitch or dangerous area of the vehicle must be lit. Anywhere so...

These are lovely Playafifi! It looks like there are lots of Portland thrift shop finds that will be on playa this year....we also have been combing the thrift stores around Portland acquiring costuming to gift at the burn:-) I love the color combos though! Great idea dying these gorgeous pieces.

Re: How to do bright hair color for the Playa!
I have a short white mohawk and we use permanent markers on it to put any color I want into it, rainbow colors, streaks, or a pattern even. My daughter uses them on her hair too and it washes out in a few washes. It is labor intensive for your whole head but it works great for colored streaks or spe...

I have collected lace table cloths and bedspreads for 30 some years thinking I would use them and I have just stored them all these years as it worked out so I thought now is the time to make them into something that would actually get used so I have been cutting and sewing lace like a crazy person....

I have had a mohawk for a few years now, not by choice necessarily but by natural design thanks so very much to alopecia:-( I work outside every day, even in Lake Havasu, AZ without a single sunburn to my head. Sunscreen 1/2 hour before you go in the sun, a hat for a sun break for your head for a 1/...
