Lost Kids Pirate Fedora
Kids-sized black fedora with skull and crossbones design, red band. White crocheted flower, plus many pins and buttons, lights, etc. We just realized it disappeared and no one's seen it since we were on the playa. Sure hope it turns up!!!

Re: Faux Fur fo real
Also, when cutting faux (or any) fur, cut from the back side with a razor or by snipping just the weave of the fabric, doing your best to avoid cutting the fur fibers. Then clean the edges of any fur that accidentally got trimmed. It helps to seal the edges, too - serge/overlock stitching works real...

Re: Howling at Sunset
I remember hearing the sunset salute every night in 2007 - howling, car horns, any thing loud - and folks with arms raised facing the last bright rays. I don't think I've ever experienced it like that since then. Would love to bring it back! Let's spread the word.

Re: Family of Orphans Seeking New Home!
First off, I must say how I adore the way so many eplaya threads degenerate into random discussion of funny and amusing topics! Thank you everyone for the support! Several camps have contacted me and I'm conferring with my crew to see what feels like the best fit. We want to bring the love and enhan...

Well of course...
I would prefer to be in a camp that doesn't run a public bar. I don't drink much, myself.

Re: Family of Orphans Seeking New Home!
Yeah, I've read that before. Some people has issues around kids at any festival, especially the Burn. Our choice is to take him, or not go at all. I was on my own last year and decided for myself to stay sober and it was wonderful. I'm committed to doing so again for my sake as well as his own. And ...

Family of Orphans Seeking New Home!
Hello beautiful Burners! My name is Sachi, and I'm a vet Burner looking forward to another wonderful year on the playa! I am the lead contact person for my personal crew of 5 people, which includes my awesome and talented husband Russell, two East Coast newbies the lovely Steven and Tine, and our 3 ...

Re: Is any one doing a Tea Camp?
You're probably thinking of the Saraswati Tea House - they were at Symbiosis and some other events, doing tea ceremonies. Wonderful crew! I participated in tea ceremonies all over the playa last year - one at Saraswati, but others in unexpected places where folks took it upon themselves to hike hot ...

Re: Mesh on my tent
Take care of the inside of your tent, as well. I cover the entire floor/stuff with a shower curtain or painters' drop cloth. Then when it inevitably gets dusty, I just roll it up and shake the dust out of the tent. All my stuff stays in bins, and when I'm not actually sleeping in it, I also roll the...

I also check Craigslist pretty regularly - searching "Burning Man" always has entertaining results!
I'm in the Sonoma County, but I'll certainly keep an eye out.

Re: Carport Roof Dimensions - replacement roof
Thank you everyone! This has helped immensely - especially because this stuff isn't cheap! I want to get away from using tarps - they just greenhouse and create a big sail, which isn't attractive. Shade cloth and/or aluminet that allows the air through is the way to go. I've been wanting to get some...

Re: Carport Roof Dimensions - replacement roof
Yeah, and I don't trust the sites selling the replacement tops, because they list the dimensions as 10x20' - but the width of the carport is 10', so the actual width of the roof with the peak has got to be more than 10', right? 20' as the length makes sense... One site I looked at actually had the d...

Carport Roof Dimensions - replacement roof
Hey friends! We have a trusty old CostCo carport frame and we're looking to replace the original vinyl roof with a piece of shade cloth. We're having a hell of a time figuring out the dimensions to cover the peaked roof - does anyone know what the minimum dimensions are? Something we should be able ...

Re: Pony Girl Express
I ran half way down my block to greet and take a photo of a pony and rider - didn't realize that it was a whole message delivery organization! I was so excited and amazed - the pony girl and delivery lady were the very first thing that inspired me to break out the camera! Good job! Going to have to ...

Re: Safe Gifting
One of the things that really bugs me on-playa are the folks who seem to think that "gifting" means they can have whatever they want, when they want it! I had a woman try to take my parasol - which I was USING at the time - and insisted that I should gift it to her! Another time, a guy tried to get ...

Re: Shut the FUCK up about virgins.
Maybe that post to start this thread WAS a *bit* on the aggressive side, but I wholeheartedly agree. 2011 was my 4th Burn and not my best (2009, my 3rd, was BY FAR the best). Why? Attitudes, mine and the ones of people around me. We had 3 virgins in our camp who were WONDERFUL - full of joy and love...

Re: If you try for a low income ticket...
If you apply for a low income ticket and then purchase a 'last sale' ticket, your low income application will be denied. If you can afford to buy the most expensive tickets from the sale, you shouldn't be applying for low-income anyway.

Re: Expect a mad rush of resale tickets
No matter what happens, it will be interesting to see how this pans out. But I think most everyone who puts some honest effort into landing a ticket will get one. And there are always a rush of last-minute tickets that pop up - usually at good prices - when folks have emergencies crop-up last minute...
